Summer is here and it is unlike any we have experienced. Concerts, sports games, and other events have been cancelled left and right. Perhaps you are of the belief that, "Summer has been cancelled!"

While it is understandable that some may subscribe to that thought, we would like to reframe and say "Summer has been upgraded!" Wait. What? How can that be?

In Philippians 4, Paul tells us to focus on the positive--" whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things."

He goes on to tell us that he has "learned to be content whatever the circumstances," and that he can do everything through Jesus, who has given him strength.

So, let us also do everything through Jesus so that we can call upon His strength to be content in our circumstances. Let's take it one step further and focus on the positive and rejoice:

Our summer has been upgraded!

It is a time to spend with our families, truly enjoying their company and learning from one another.

It is a time to explore the art God has provided in nature -- in the colorful glow of sunsets and sunrises; in the fragrance of summer flowers; in the earthy smell of a hiking trail; in the melodic songs of the birds.

It is a time to worship God through individual prayer; reading the Bible; singing together with family before dinner.

It is a time of rest and recharge, to feel the peace of God, which transcends all understanding.

We can--and should-- focus on all of these things that upgrade our summer from the same old experiences we've been having for years.

Our prayer is that you enjoy and embrace your summer. Take a look at some of the stories below. You might find something to help upgrade your summer!

Join us for an enjoyable day of golf and networking at our annual golf event while supporting our uncommon students! All funds raised at this event go to student scholarship support. Registration opens Monday, July 13, at 6 am. This event has historically sold out, so don't delay. Class of 1970: Your 50th reunion committee has been busy planning your class event. As you may know, due to COVID-19, our May 2020 reunion was postponed to October 2020. We want this event to be successful and the best experience for you, so we want your input. Please fill out this survey to let us know if you would attend in October 2020, May 2021, or if both dates would work. Thank you for your patience during this planning process. We are excited to see you all! 
Class of 1971: We are looking for members of the Class of 1971 Junior College who would be willing to help plan their 50th reunion. A committee meets via Zoom to plan all of the fun details. To volunteer or for more information, please email alumni@cuw.edu .

Assistant Director of Alumni and Parent Relations
Alumni and parents have always been near the heart and soul of Concordia. As we seek to serve these important groups, Concordia is expanding the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations with the addition of an Assistant Director.
 
Are you deeply committed to the mission of Concordia and our students? Do you have the skills to help organize events that will deepen that commitment among others? If so, you might be a perfect fit! The A ssistant Director of Alumni and Parent Relations will build a network of alumni and parents who support Concordia through financial support, volunteerism, and student referrals. This is a full-time position that works collaboratively with the Senior Director of Alumni and Parent Relations, reports to the Senior Vice President of Advancement, and is located on the Mequon, Wisconsin, campus. Healthcare Economics Summit goes virtual
July 31
On July 31, CUW will present its 4th annual Healthcare Economics Summit. America spends more on healthcare than any other developed country; yet, it does not provide better health outcomes. Republicans and Democrats can't agree on a solution; yet, rational compromise is desperately needed. This year's theme is “Purple Solutions to Fixing Healthcare in America.” Interested in attending?
