Dear Uplift Community,

What an unbelievable few weeks this has been. This new “normal for now” has likely seen changes for all of us. For myself – I’m working from home, sharing this new workspace with my husband, helping my three coworkers (also known as my young children) with online learning and hoping they don’t tear the house apart. I’m sending good thoughts to you and yours as you continue to adapt to new circumstances, as well.

This has also been a time of change for Uplift. I’m so proud of how our team has come together to counsel and engage the grieving children, families, and communities that rely on our services.

We’ve been working hard to set up virtual grief support services for our Family Services grief groups and In-School and Community grief groups, and in the meantime, we’ve been keeping in touch with families and school partners through phone calls, texts, and emails.
Our Training Coordinator has started virtual trainings for community partners and our Post-Crisis Intervention Coordinator is telephonically responding to crises around the city in conjunction with the Network of Neighbors.
Uplift clinicians have been creating resources such as tipsheets on communicating facts about the pandemic and social isolation to children and self-care advice for children and adults.
Clinicians are recording themselves reading books, leading meditations, and working on activities to share with our families and supporters. All of these resources can be found on the new #upliftathome webpage and on our Facebook page.

These efforts are why your support , today, is more important than ever. With your help, Uplift will continue to provide caring and therapeutic grief support services to children and families throughout Philadelphia. It’s not a stretch to say that right now, we’re all grieving. We’re grieving the lives we had as recently as two weeks ago. Grieving lost connections with family, friends, co-workers, with familiar stores and restaurants, with beloved traditions and celebrations.

The children in our lives are no different. They’re struggling and I know we’re all doing our best to comfort them. I invite you to share our resources with the children in your life and to contact us if you need us.
