Westheimer Storm Drainage and Street Reconstruction:
Pavement is now complete on Westheimer between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway and is now underway through the Buffalo Speedway/Westheimer intersection.
Last week, crews completed new concrete installation between Buffalo Speedway and St. John's school, leaving the south side of the intersection as the only pavement work remaining on the project. Towards the end of next week, motorists should expect to see traffic southbound on Buffalo Speedway shift one lane to the west to allow for work space in the center of the intersection.
Crews have also been working on back-of-curb excavation. They have been laying conduit for future pedestrian lighting and irrigation for new plantings and street trees. This work will continue through next week.
Bissonnet Storm Drainage
and Street Reconstruction:
Work on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway continued this week with demolition and pavement efforts through about 400 feet of roadway just east of Buffalo Speedway. New pavement is now complete on the south side of the esplanade and work has shifted to the north side of Bissonnet. Crews have begun excavation here and will likely begin new waterline installation next week.
Concurrent work has been approved on the north side of the street between Dincans and Wakeforest and will likely begin next week. The contractor will begin dropping traffic control materials off over the weekend and will likely shift traffic to the south side of the street on Monday so that demolition can begin on the north side of Bissonnet. Over the next month, crews will be installing new storm work within this section and restoring the concrete with the goal of opening up the roadway between Kirby and Wakeforest by the holidays. Work on the south side of the street between Kirby and Wakeforest will resume after the first of the year.
