Crews shifted traffic control on schedule last week to the stretch of the north side of Westheimer between Eastside and just west of River Oaks Boulevard. They have since begun removing the old roadway along this section and will continue to do so into next week. Once demolition is completed, crews will begin work on storm drain and water line installation.
Lateral storm line work is now complete on Bammel and well underway on Sackett. Crews have completed storm installation on the east side of Sackett between Westheimer and Alabama and have placed concrete on the majority of the impacted roadway. Crews will continue next week placing new driveways at several residential and office locations along the street. Following concrete work, crews will reopen the eastern half of the roadway and switch over to the western half, where lateral inlet leads and new sanitary line will be installed. Storm work on Elbert and the restoration of the Philfall/
Sackett intersection will be undertaken after the traffic switch as well. Once all underground work has been completed, workers will overlay the entire roadway. During construction, two-way traffic will be maintained, although on street parking will not be available.
Kirby to Shepherd
Upper Kirby work on Westheimer between Kirby and Shepherd has been substantially complete since February, 2016 and has been awaiting removal of overhead utilities by various telecommunications companies prior to finalizing the back of curb area.
Lines were finally removed last Thursday and Friday. Once CenterPoint Energy removes the poles, the back of curb area will be restored.

Comcast is the sole utility on the poles remaining between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway. Comcast has indicated that work would be completed late this month. Look for further updates as this work progresses.
Kirby to Buffalo Speedway
Work on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway was stopped late last year due to a contractor dispute. Work began between the Kirby intersection and Dincans on the north side of the street. Upper Kirby retained a second contractor to complete work on this area. This contractor completed this work just prior to the holidays. The remainder of the work has been repackaged for a new bid. The project will be bid in June with construction
beginning in July.
