Upper Kirby Construction
Westheimer Traffic Shift Scheduled for Monday
Westheimer Reconstruction:
Kirby to Buffalo Speedway
New Pavement at the River Oaks/Westheimer Intersection
Work continued this week along the northern half of Westheimer between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby Drive. The majority of the concrete has been placed on the northern half of the road with the exception of a small section just east of Buffalo Speedway that extends approximately 300 feet. Crews are scheduled to shift work between this section and Eastside to the south side of Westheimer where they will begin demolition of the roadway in preparation for new pavement. Eastbound motorists should expect to narrow down to one lane just east of the Buffalo Speedway intersection and be shifted to the north side of the road just west of River Oaks Boulevard. Westbound motorists should expect to narrow down to one lane just east of Eastside Street and then shift to the south side of the road just west of River Oaks Boulevard. The goal is to have as much of the pavement completed in front of the schools as is possible over the summer months.

Lateral work on Sackett is now complete and crews are working on sanitary line installation on Earl. Over the next week, it is expected that work will be completed on Earl. Sacket will likely also be overlaid with new asphalt over that period.

Bissonnet Reconstruction:
Kirby to Buffalo Speedway

Work on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway was stopped late last year due to a contractor dispute. Work began between the Kirby intersection and Dincans on the north side of the street. Upper Kirby retained a second contractor to complete work on this area. This contractor completed this work just prior to the holidays. The remainder of the work was bid last week. The apparent low bid was Reytec Construction Resources. Construction  is estimated to begin  in the July/August time frame.
