Upper Kirby Construction
Updates for Westheimer, Bissonnet, and Eastside for 2018!

Westheimer Storm Drainage and Street Reconstruction:

Happy New Year! Work across the District will be back in motion this week. Please be wary of flagmen and other construction personnel in these areas.

Work progressed on Westheimer Road through the holidays. New sidewalks and streetscape improvements were installed at various locations (pictured). New sidewalk installation is in process at the Kirby Drive intersection adjacent to West Ave. This work should continue through next week.

New concrete pavement is complete east of Buffalo Speedway adjacent to St John's School.  S idewalk pavers are scheduled to be installed this week and  next week along this area.

Work continuing through the  month of January includes installation of bus shelters, sidewalk pavers, pedestrian lighting and new landscaping.

Bissonnet Storm Drainage  and Street Reconstruction:

Crews are back to work on Bissonnet this week. Activity continues with roadway pavement replacement and storm sewer installation.

New roadway pavement has been installed on the eastbound lane between Belmont Street  and Wakeforest Avenue. (pictured).

On the west end of the project, near Buffalo Speedway, crews have completed installing the new storm sewer system in front of the HEB parking lot and will be moving east with new storm pipe installation this week
New pavement will be installed early next week for this area.

Eastside Street Utility and Streetscape Improvements:

Work on Eastside Street will start up again this week after a short break during the Christmas holidays. New pavement is complete in the southbound lane (pictured) and new pavement will begin in the cul-de-sac south of Norfolk Street soon.

Roadway improvements north of Alabama Street are also moving quickly. The contractor has completed the storm sewer on the east half of the road and will begin preparing the sub-grade for new roadway paving this week. New concrete for roadway paving will occur in the next few weeks.

Traffic lane closures for this week on Eastside Street include:
1. Eastside Street between Westheimer and  Alabama will be closed to traffic until February 24, 2018.
