Work on the Westheimer storm drainage, paving and streetscape improvements package is well underway with two concurrent phases of work occurring simultaneously.
Work began last Friday to tie-in the Buffalo Speedway storm sewer with the new Westheimer storm sewer in the northwest quadrant of the Buffalo Speedway/Westheimer intersection. Work in this quadrant will continue for approximately two to three weeks before reopening and shifting paving efforts to the northeast quadrant of the intersection. Following the reconstruction of the northern half of the intersection, crews will continue the new storm system on Westheimer, moving east toward concurrent work being completed between Bellemeade and Eastside.
Storm and water line installation between Bellemeade and Eastside is now complete and crews are ready to begin concrete preparation work. Once concrete is placed, the roadway will reopen and similar efforts will continue moving west.
Lateral storm lines are also being installed on Sackett and Bammel between Alabama and Westheimer. The scope on both streets involves excavation of one half of the roadway, placement of new storm sewer infrastructure and restoration of the impacted area. During construction on both streets, two-way traffic will be maintained although on street parking will not be available.
Storm sewer installation on Bammel is now complete as is the majority of the concrete placement. Concrete work is expected to be completed next week. Work on Sackett will not begin until Bammel is reopened in full. The earliest that could occur would be the week after next. Look for further updates as the Sackett schedule is finalized.
