Upper Kirby Construction
Work Likely Shifting to the South Next Week
Westheimer Reconstruction:
Kirby to Buffalo Speedway
Work continued this week along the northern half of Westheimer between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby Drive. The final sections of concrete are being placed over the next two days and will require approximately seven days to cure. Once the concrete has cured, traffic will be restored on the new lanes and work will begin on the south side of the roadway with pavement operations and minor storm inlet lead crossings. It is expected that the southern half of the road will move much faster due to the fact that there is minimal underground work involved.

Lateral work on Sackett is now complete and crews are working on sanitary line installation on Earl. Over the next two weeks, it is expected that work will be completed on Earl and Sacket will be overlaid with new asphalt.

Bissonnet Reconstruction:
Kirby to Buffalo Speedway

Work on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway was stopped late last year due to a contractor dispute. Work began between the Kirby intersection and Dincans on the north side of the street. Upper Kirby retained a second contractor to complete work on this area. This contractor completed this work just prior to the holidays. The remainder of the work was bid last week. The apparent low bid was Reytec Construction Resources. Construction  is estimated to begin  in the July/August time frame.

Kirby Collection
Roadwork at Kirby and West Main Next Week
EE Reed Construction will begin work July 19th to install a traffic signal at the intersection of Kirby Drive and West Main. Intersection work will take place on nights and weekends only and will take approximately two months to complete. Motorists on Kirby should expect phased single lane impacts as crosswalks are installed over the evening and weekend hours.
