Upper Kirby Construction
Updates for Westheimer, Bissonnet, and Eastside for 2018!

Westheimer Storm Drainage and Street Reconstruction:

It has been a cold and rainy week, but work on Westheimer Road has reached a new milestone as street trees are in the process of being installed (pictured). O ver the next couple of weeks completion of tree grates and paver sections will occur.

New sidewalks are nearly complete at the Kirby Drive intersection adjacent to West Ave and look great. Further west, sidewalk finishes will begin adjacent to Chuys.

Work through the remainder of the month of January includes installation of bus shelters, benches, sidewalk pavers, and new landscaping.

Bissonnet Storm Drainage  and Street Reconstruction:

Crews along Bissonnet have been unable to work the last few days as ice and rain  have prevented real progress. Activity continues late this week with roadway pavement replacement and storm sewer installation.

Existing eastbound roadway pavement has been removed east of  Wakeforest Avenue. (pictured). Traffic is reduced to a single eastbound lane in this area.

On the west end of the project, near Buffalo Speedway, crews are installing the left turn lane and will be continuing to install storm lines west of Belmont Street. Traffic has been routed south to Sunset Blvd, so expect extended travel time to Buffalo Speedway.

Eastside Street Utility and Streetscape Improvements:

Eastside Street roadway improvements north of Alabama Street are moving quickly. New roadway paving has been installed for half of the street .

Crews are currently installing n ew sanitary line on the second half of the street  which should continue into next week.
Be aware that the intersection of Eastside Street and Alabama Street will have temporary construction barriers reducing  traffic to a single lane.

Traffic lane closures for this week on Eastside Street include:
1. Eastside Street between Westheimer and  Alabama will be closed to traffic until February 24, 2018.
