Dear Upper School Families,

Hope you’re having an enjoyable start to summer. This note is to make you aware that upper school report cards are now available in the MySchoolApp. Once logged in, click on the Children dropdown menu on the upper left, select your child’s name and then look for the “Report cards” link under Performance.

To better understand US grade calculations, teachers keep a running average for each student’s work throughout each semester. Therefore, each semester grade is the average of all of the semester’s work; it is not the average of two quarters and an exam. The final grade is representative of a student’s work in the entire course.

The grades on the entire report card mean the following:

  • Q1: This is the average of all work at the time of the mid-semester report in the first semester.

  • Q2: This is the average of all work in the first semester prior to the midterm exam.

  • MX: This is the grade earned on the midterm exam, completed during the exam week.

  • S1: This is the average of all of the work in the first semester.

  • Q3: This is the average of all work at the time of the mid-semester report.

  • Q4: This is the average of all work this semester prior to the final exam.

  • FX: This is the grade earned on the final exam, completed during the exam week.

  • S2: This is the average of all of the work in the second semester.

  • FINAL: This is the final grade for the entire course (and the only grade which is listed on the transcript and included in future cumulative GPA calculations).

As you read the grades and comments, we hope students have a chance to reflect on the year, recharge their batteries this summer and return to school with renewed energy for another year of learning.

Please watch for future communications pertaining to your list of scheduled classes for 2022-23 near the end of July.

Be Well,

Cory Izokaitis
