Parking and Traffic Details
|
|
Student Parking Permits
If a student is driving to school, then the student must purchase a $25 student parking permit. This can be purchased through MySchoolBucks.
Once the permit has been purchased, we will deliver the parking permit to the student during 7th hour. If a student drives a different car, then each car will need to have its own parking permit. Last year’s parking permits are no longer valid, and a new permit needs to be purchased.
MacLaren Carpools
Are you ready to find a carpool? Carpooling not only lessens traffic, but also builds community for our neighbors, faculty, students, and staff.
Listed are carpool options:
- Connect with other parents through the MacLaren Parents & Alumni Facebook Page.
- Reach out to Rebecca Watts at rwatts@maclarenschool.org.
- Metro Transit also offers a Schoolpool option, click here for more information to see if this would be a good fit for you!

Donate to MacLaren without spending a dime while you do your regular shopping! See how easy it is to get donations flowing to the school without extra spending! Even out-of-state relatives can participate.
Over the years, Amazon Smile has donated over $6,000 to Thomas MacLaren School as a result of members of our community taking advantage of just this one opportunity. Thank you!

Book Covers Requested
We ask that you assist your children to cover all textbooks (not novels) with brown, thick paper, such as a grocery bag or mailing paper. Our books range in cost from $20 to $240. Covering them reduces wear and tear, increases their life, and could save you money. Families are financially responsible for any damage done to a textbook checked out to their child. Here is a YouTube link for clear instructions.
ALL TEXTBOOKS HARD AND SOFT COVER, SHOULD BE COVERED BY MONDAY AUGUST 22, 2022.
We prefer you use packing or duct tape instead of office/Scotch tape. Please tape around all the edges. Tape should NOT adhere to any part of the book. If any family has difficulty, please contact Karin Pokorny at kpokorny@maclarenschool.org.

! Detention after School !
|
|
We have decided to make a change this school year regarding detentions. Detentions will now be served after school from 3:45 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This option has always been available per our Parent/Student Handbook. Students will be responsible for showing up on the designated day to serve their detention and communicating to their parents that they have a detention to serve. It is not the responsibility of the Dean to notify parents ahead of time that your student has a detention after school. Should students have practice or a game after school, they should notify their coach and Dean to discuss possible solutions. According to our Handbook, should a detention be skipped an additional 10 minutes could be added to the original time.
If your student is not in the pick-up area when you arrive at the end of the day, you can park in the Main Lot and walk up to the South Entrance to inquire whether or not they are in detention. You will be receiving a detention report every Friday that will summarize your child’s detention history for that week should they receive one.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our Assistant Head of School of Student Life, Tim Pingel (TPingel@maclarenschool.org).
