October 19, 2020

Dear Upper School Families,

It may be hard to believe but we are a quarter of the way through the school year. Additionally, our stretch of beautiful weather abruptly ran out this week.

Here are some important pieces of information for the next couple weeks for your upper school calendar:

Quarter 1 Grades

At 6:00 p.m. today (Monday, October 19th), Q1 grades go live to parents within MySchoolApp. Please know that these are simply snapshots of the work done so far and serve only as an update. Grades of C or below should have an accompanying comment from the teacher.

Virtual Grade-Level Parent/Guardian Coffees

Over the course of the next three weeks, we will host virtual grade-level meetings for parents and guardians via Zoom. During these sessions that all begin at 8:15 a.m., we’ll speak to academic and developmental aspects of each grade in addition to answering questions you might have.

Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be conducted virtually November 4-6. The scheduled times for Upper School are:

  • Wednesday, November 4th: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 5th: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. (half-day of school with students released at noon)
  • Friday, November 6th: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (no classes)

You will receive signup information for conferences later this month in a separate communication.

Faculty Planning Day

Students will be at home on Tuesday, November 10th, as this will be a faculty planning day. As originally announced in last month’s message from our Head of School, there will be another faculty planning day on December 2nd as well. Details about students’ asynchronous work will be posted closer to the actual dates.

Lastly, please remind your children to dress for inclement weather. Boots, rain jackets and extra layers are welcomed at this time. Happily, several umbrellas have appeared today! As always, don’t hesitate to contact the US office should you have any questions.
