Dear FA Families,

Every year at Upper School Honors Day, we recognize academic prowess and progress. As we recognize each student's achievements, we emphasize the student's efforts, growth, and career.

National Merit recognition, Advanced Placement Scholars, and Head of School lists recognize a body of work. The effort, character, and engagement that goes into these awards is what a culture of high expectations produces. These student recipients understand that “excellence is not an act. It is a habit.” Academic excellence is a direct result of effort, planning, engagement, and ability. These habits are the recipe for success “in college and adult life.”

Congratulations to all of the students listed below for their impressive achievements. We will honor all of them during our Upper School Assembly on Monday.

Thank you for your trust,

Mike Temple

National Merit Program
National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Each year, over 3.5 million high school students take the PSAT/NMSQT and approximately 1.5 million high school students enter the National Merit competition. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth about $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Approximately 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing; about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. Click here for more information.

Frederica Academy is pleased to announce that the following two seniors are among this year's National Merit Semifinalists:
Adam Elsharkawi
Andrew Kaminer
Juniors enter the National Merit Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Approximately 50,000 students were identified as high scorers, based upon their 2020 PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index Scores in the spring.

In addition to the 16,000 Semifinalists, 34,000 participating seniors have been named Commended Students.

Frederica Academy proudly recognizes the following seniors for being named National Merit Commended Students:
Spencer Sullivan
Kate Walbridge
