Upper School Communication Update
A Message from Mr. Barkman
It’s hard to believe that we are finishing our third week already. Thank you for all you do to support your children and their teachers. Together we are making WCA a great place to work and learn.
I wanted to take a moment to talk about our communication from our classrooms to parents. At Parent Orientation night we made a pretty big deal about streamlining our communication with students and parents by using Google Classroom. Subsequent to that, we have discovered that we can also use FACTS to communicate the learning topics and homework assignments (both assigned and past due) each week. We think this will be better for you because it will only require one login (FACTS), rather than two (FACTS and Google). Also, if I understand things correctly, FACTS will be making a mobile app available very soon.
At the moment, some teachers are using Google Classroom for this type of communication, while others have transitioned to FACTS. Thank you for your patience. As we train teachers to use FACTS more effectively, we will be transitioning from Google Classroom to FACTS as our primary mode of classroom communication. This will take a few weeks until we’re all up to speed, so again, we would appreciate your gracious patience as we roll this out.
Teachers will continue to use Google Classroom to keep communication and assignments flowing within their classrooms with their students. However, over the next few weeks our goal is to change over completely to FACTS as our method of classroom communication to parents.
I apologize for this change of direction. Our goal is to streamline communication with you. We think this will accomplish that objective.
Thanks again for your faithful support. We appreciate every one of you.
May the Lord bless and keep you!
Mr. Barkman
