S2417

It's a new grant year, and there is a new CCDR protocol-SWOG S2417: A Pragmatic Randomized Controlled Trial To Evaluate The Effectiveness of an Intervention called Current Together After Cancer (CTAC) to Promote Guideline-Concordant Colorectal Cancer Surveillance. This trial enrolls newly diagnosed, surgically resected Stage 2-3 colorectal cancer patients. The patients must identify a supporter but the supporter does not have to enroll on the protocol. Participants are randomized to either an enhanced website with education on colorectal cancer surveillance, dyadic training, and supporter involvement or a static website. The primary outcome is higher rates of guideline concordant colorectal cancer surveillance at 12 months after registration.

Diving In!

Just Ask!

The Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC) is launching a Patient Journey Podcast for the ACCC CancerBUZZ channel. This is a long-form podcast discussion between providers, patients, caregivers and/or patient advocates. The first topic selected by the internal committee is Just ASK: A Patient’s Experience with Clinical Trials.” On the morning of July 31st, Dr. Tondre Buck, Hematologist Oncologist, Audrianna Carrington, Clinical Research Professional, and Glenis Redmond, author-poet, cancer research advocate and clinical trial participant, joined the podcast to discuss the importance of cancer research, the NCI Cancer Moonshot Biobank Research Trial, barriers to clinical trial access and participation, and lastly medical mistrust among the community.
