Les McCall Recognized For Leadership

Tuesday, October 27, Les McCall was recognized as one of the Upstate's "20 Under 40" by Anderson Independent Mail and the United Way of Anderson County.    McCall, son of Royce and Vicki McCall of Westminster, is a 2009 graduate of Clemson University.  He has served as Assistant Director of Pendleton District Commission since July 2015 and as Director of the Bart Garrison Agricultural Museum of South Carolina since its opening in 2013.  "Pendleton District Commission has benefited greatly from Les McCall's vision and skills," states Vicki Fletcher, Executive Director.  "We have a superb team working to preserve and promote the history of our three-county region and to increase the economic impact of tourism in the area.  I'm proud to be associated with every member of our staff and pleased that Les has been selected for this honor."

This group of 20 young professionals represent the future of our region and are impressive individually and as a group.  All are on the "A" list for our future!  Congratulations to Les and the 2015 20 Under 40 Class!
SC Congressional Delegation Visits Pendleton District

Staff members from the offices of all of South Carolina's Congressional Delegation visited Pendleton District October 13-14, 2015, for an Agricultural Tourism tour planned in partnership with South Carolina's Departments of Agriculture and Parks, Recreation, and Tourism.  Updates from Tom Garrison and Les Jaynes about challenges faced by farmers were especially helpful.  Other stops in the region included Grits and Groceries, Denver Downs Farm & Corn Maze, Bart Garrison Agricultural Museum of SC, Devils Fork State Park, Table Rock State Park, Victoria Valley Vineyard and Hagood Mill Historic Site with a special tour of Hagood Creek Petroglyph Site of South Carolina.

During their recent visit to Pendleton District, Congressional Staffers traded their "Halls of Congress" shoes for hiking shoes as they visited Carrick Creek Falls at Table Rock State Park.
