Uptown Updates: July 11th
Christ is our complete Savior. The world longs for a savior who can help them with their sin, help them approach God, help secure their future. As our complete Savior Christ is the perfect sacrifice who removes all our guilt and restores us forever to God. Christ is our perfect High Priest who allows us to enter the presence of the living God with confidence. Christ is the perfect assurance that our future will be spent in heaven with him. The Book of Hebrews extols the completeness of Christ as our Savior, which becomes a certain hope for all of God’s people.

Backyard VBS is only 13 days away - Join us in Praying
We are so thankful for how the Lord has provided so many children to attend this year (almost 150) AND for all the volunteers we need to make it run smoothly!

As we get closer, we would love for you to join us in praying for each location as they share the gospel and build community in their neighborhoods. The theme this year is the goodness of God and we pray that the children will grow in their understanding of our good Father. Look for a sign-up next week with specifics on prayer requests and times to pray.

If you are unable to attend Backyard VBS this year, but still would like to help, consider helping us supply snacks for our volunteers! Sign up with the link below:
Charlotte Fellows
The Charlotte Fellows Program, one of 22 such ministries, is an intensely practical nine month spiritual and vocational leadership program that prepares its 20-something participants to live a life of faith. The program includes a part-time professional job in their field of interest, theological coursework, Biblical study, mentoring and service. All of this takes place in community with the other Fellows and those that come alongside the program. This leadership development program equips them to have a thoughtful impact in the world and discern how their story fits into God's story.

The Charlotte Fellows Program has been in existence for 10 years. Since that time several families from Uptown have had the privilege of hosting, mentoring, or serving on the board. We need others who would be willing to join us in supporting this program by volunteering your time to mentor or opening your home to one of these young adults. Please consider how you might like to get involved or simply get more information. Contact Laurabeth Harris (or 240-429-5854) for details.

Where: 3rd Floor Boardroom

Over the years, our denomination (the PCA) has continued to struggle over hot theological issues. On the Shoulders of Giants
Teachers: Chris Van Roekel, Will Brisley, Bryan Zumbach, Caleb Standafer

Hebrews 12:1 says that we are to run the Christian life “surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.” This class will take a look at some of these great witnesses who have gone before us and lived remarkable Christian lives that have changed the world forever. These include Jonathan Edwards, Charles Spurgeon, C.S. Lewis, Jim Elliot, and many others. Come join us for this class where we can be encouraged and motivated by examining the lives of those believers who have lived faithful lives for Christ.
