Uptown Updates:
September 5th
God is love. God loves all of his creation. God loves all the people he has created. Most of all God loves his people the church. When we perceive, understand, and receive his love it transforms everything about us. Sadly we often fail to apprehend the height, depth, and breadth of this love for us. This series will help us to grasp his infinite love for each of us.

Community Picnic - THIS SUNDAY - 5pm
Join us Sunday, September 8 at 5pm at Independence Park for our annual Community Picnic - and invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers! This picnic is geared toward outreach and designed to be an easy, friendly way to introduce others to the Uptown Church Community. We'll provide the food and drinks; you bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and any other accessories you need to picnic well. Take a postcard or two from the welcome table to invite others and help us spread the word. We will need help with setup, cleanup, and at a welcome table, so email Cheryl Anne if you are interested in volunteering.
2019-2020 Life Groups
Life Groups are Uptown's community groups that meet in people's homes all over charlotte on many nights of the week for fellowship, Bible study and prayer. We have selected 1 Peter 4:8-10 as the key verses for this year's groups. It is our prayer that God would use life groups to develop deep Christ-centered family relationships in which we can keep loving, show hospitality and serve one another.  There is also a map linked below that shows where each group meets.  If you have questions about life groups or need assistance getting plugged in, please email Dave Kulp or give him a call @ 704-564-8184.
I'll do it!
It's that time of year to fill up our volunteer spots for the Nursery and Children's Ministries. This commitment is just 12 services per year (scheduled in 3 one-month blocks, 1st OR 2nd service). We ask that all parents in our congregation take a turn serving in either Nursery or Children's Ministry, and in addition we welcome any adult or youth group member who would like to serve. Please prayerfully consider how the the Lord might be calling you to serve Him in these vital ministries of the church this year. And remember this is a great way to fulfill your vows as members to help assist parents in the christian nurture of their children. We still need help in Nursery this month and in the following Children's classes this year:

• 3rd grade Sunday School (September, January, May) – 2 teachers
• Kindergarten Children's church (Nov, March, July)- 2 teachers
• 4th/5th grade Girls’ Sunday School (Oct, Feb, June)- 2 teachers
• 1st grade Sunday School (Dec, April, August)- 2 teachers

The Parables of Jesus

Teachers: Will Ross, Chad Kraska, Drew Harris, Tim Shorey
Where: 3rd floor boardroom

Scripture always links story-telling directly to God's purposes in redemption. Far from being mere uplifting stories for children -- as many tend to assume -- the parables of Jesus drive a wedge between the foolish and the wise. Who is there who has eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to understand? Join us as we study the text of scripture to perceive the Kingdom of God as it is simply yet mysteriously revealed in the parables.
Christians in the Workplace

Teachers: Tom Ellis, Grae Garrison, Derek Rogers, Jason Bernd
Where: Resource Center

Ever wonder what a business would like if it were run from the executive committee to front lines based on the gospel? Is business intrinsically good, or at best morally neutral? Do we just endure it so we can get to other, more 'worthwhile' ministries? Please join us as we answer these questions by challenging believers to think about their business through the lens of the gospel, and in the process transform their employees, customers, and investors for the increase of the glory of God.
