Uptown Updates:
October 10th
God is love. God loves all of his creation. God loves all the people he has created. Most of all God loves his people the church. When we perceive, understand, and receive his love it transforms everything about us. Sadly we often fail to apprehend the height, depth, and breadth of this love for us. This series will help us to grasp his infinite love for each of us.

Anniversaries are a time for reflection and celebration, and we invite you to celebrate with us the work of the Lord for, in, and through Uptown Church over
the last 25 years.

Come and see what the Lord has done as we share and reflect on the stories of God's faithfulness.

Join us for dinner on Thursday, October 17 at 7pm at Byron's South End, 101 W Worthington Avenue. RSVP deadline has passed. However, we still have some space available and are opening this to High School students now also. We'll add till seating is full. Contact Cheryl Anne Butts with questions.

Jesse Tree Party - Nov. 7
All ladies are invited to join Uptown Women's Ministry on Nov. 7th from 7:00-8:30pm as we enjoy a Jesse Tree Party! The Jesse Tree is a wonderful way to celebrate the incarnation of Christ and the whole story of the Bible with your family each Christmas! The party will be at Janet Lowder's house (address is 2210 Thornridge Road). Find more info about the party and register online. This event is limited to 25 women due to the need for every woman to make 25 of one ornament. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. We can't wait to enjoy this special time together as we prepare for the Christmas season! Email Ginni Larkins with questions.

The Parables of Jesus

Teachers: Will Ross, Chad Kraska, Drew Harris, Tim Shorey
Where: 3rd floor boardroom

Scripture always links story-telling directly to God's purposes in redemption. Far from being mere uplifting stories for children -- as many tend to assume -- the parables of Jesus drive a wedge between the foolish and the wise. Who is there who has eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to understand? Join us as we study the text of scripture to perceive the Kingdom of God as it is simply yet mysteriously revealed in the parables.
Christians in the Workplace

Teachers: Tom Ellis, Grae Garrison, Derek Rogers, Jason Bernd
Where: Resource Center

Ever wonder what a business would like if it were run from the executive committee to front lines based on the gospel? Is business intrinsically good, or at best morally neutral? Do we just endure it so we can get to other, more 'worthwhile' ministries? Please join us as we answer these questions by challenging believers to think about their business through the lens of the gospel, and in the process transform their employees, customers, and investors for the increase of the glory of God.
