Uptown Updates - Jan. 31
Christ is our complete Savior. The world longs for a savior who can help them with their sin, help them approach God, help secure their future. As our complete Savior Christ is the perfect sacrifice who removes all our guilt and restores us forever to God. Christ is our perfect High Priest who allows us to enter the presence of the living God with confidence. Christ is the perfect assurance that our future will be spent in heaven with him. The Book of Hebrews extols the completeness of Christ as our Savior, which becomes a certain hope for all of God’s people.

See this week's worship guide for further details and to submit a nomination. There is no limit to the # of people who can be nominated, and the only other requirements are that the nominees be male and be a member of Uptown Church.

Officer elections are very important to the life of the church, and it is important that the church be involved in the process.
Thus, we encourage you to please prayerfully consider who you would like to nominate, and then nominate them through filling out the “tear off” portion of the sheet and dropping it in the collection plate, or by mailing your nomination into the church office directly.
Current Adult Ed Classes Jan/Feb
The Great I AM
Teachers: Forde Britt, Mark Skylling, Bryan Zumbach, and Chris Van Roekel
Location: Resource Center

The Great I AM...Jesus? Jesus uses seven "I AM" statements in the book of John, a name God uses for himself in the Old Testament. What is the significance of these statements? How do they impact the identity of Jesus? We will explore what Jesus is saying in these statements and the multitude of implications that follow.

Bad Christian Books: Sifting Truth from Error in Popular Christian Authors
Teacher: Mike Kruger
Location: Cafe (new location)

We live in an age that has enjoyed an explosion in Christian publishing. And while many of these books are good, that is not true for all of them. This class will examine some of the most problematic Christian books in recent years, so we can learn to distinguish truth from error. Examples include,  Love Wins  (Rob Bell),  Girl Wash Your Face  (Rachel Hollis),  Irresistible  (Andy Stanley),  The Bible Tells Me So  (Peter Enns),  Your Best Life Now  (Joel Osteen),  A Year of Biblical Womanhood  (Rachel Held Evans), and more.
At the Vision Banquet we were all challenged to make this church our home through service and relationships. We were also encouraged to consider one way to apply that message this year and to put that one idea into writing. If you were there and didn't get or fill out the email that was sent, we encourage you to do so here. And hey, even if you weren't there we would love to have you fill this out.
Exciting news for the Latham family
After 3 years at Uptown, Dave has accepted the call to pastor Grace Presbyterian Church in Fort Payne, AL and will be installed on March 31st. Rebecca will stay in Charlotte while their children finish the school year and will move in late May. We are excited about this new opportunity that the Lord has opened up for the Latham family and are thankful for their time with us at Uptown. Please pray for the Lathams as they begin to make plans to move to the mountains of northeast Alabama.
It is with mixed emotions that we announce that Rebecca Latham is stepping down as Co-Nursery Coordinator. Please join us in thanking her for her dedication and faithful service to Uptown families for the past several years!
We have begun the search for another coordinator who will work alongside Lisa Ellis approximately 10-15 hours per week. Please contact Wes Andrews for more information about this job or if you are interested in applying for the position.
