Thank You for Showing Up and Speaking Out

Thank you to everyone who showed up at City Hall on June 16 for the Supervisors' hearing on the Mayor’s Upzoning Plan.

It was a powerful showing — residents, small business owners, tenant advocates, historic preservationists, and neighborhood leaders packed the room to oppose a plan that fuels speculation, displaces communities, and delivers no real affordability.

If you missed it, you can watch the full hearing. Don’t miss these highlights:

  • Joseph Smooke (Race and Equity in All Planning) – 1:41
  • Quintin Mecke (Council of Community Housing Organizations) – 3:26

Your voices made a difference. Let’s keep the pressure on.

San Francisco neighborhoods are at a turning point. Mayor Lurie’s proposed Upzoning Map threatens to reshape neighborhoods throughout the city with luxury towers that displace small businesses, renters, and longtime residents — all without delivering true affordability. The plan relies on outdated population assumptions that no longer reflect the city’s post-pandemic reality.

Planning Department staff will present the latest version of the proposed map, followed by neighborhood leaders sharing community concerns. A Q&A with city officials will give residents a chance to speak directly to decision-makers.
