Urban Prep Academies 2010 - We Believe.
Heads UP!
A Quick Announcement (or two) from Urban Prep
Two Campuses, Two Champs,
One Big Game Tonight!
Urban Prep's West and Bronzeville Basketball Teams
BOTH
Clinch First Conference Championships,
Now Face Each Other in Playoffs

Playing to a packed house, the Lions at Urban Prep's West Campus reigned victorious over rival Alcott High School to clinch their Conference Championship (Green West Conference).  Fending off a late surge by Alcott, who led the game with 2 minutes and 32 seconds left, the Lions fought back relentlessly, bringing home the title with a score of 54-50 and an undefeated 14-0 conference record.

In an equally exciting contest, the Lions of Urban Prep's Bronzeville Campus faced off against Kennedy High School to win the Green South Conference title. The game, which remained close throughout, was ultimately won by the Lions 39-30 through solid teamwork and consistent free-throw shooting.  The Bronzeville team finished their season 13-1 in conference play. Amazingly, the Bronzeville squad, all Freshmen and Sophomores, competed as a varsity team the entire season, defeating older and more experienced teams in the city.

Here's the bad news:  unexpectedly, the two conference champs will face each other in the first round of the playoffs. That's right, it'll be brother against brother on the hardwood to see which Lions reign supreme.

There is a silver (actually a red and gold) lining: Urban Prep will definitely win the game!

The Urban Prep Bronzeville v Urban Prep West game will be held Wednesday, February 8 at Fosco Park (1312 S Racine) at 6:20pm.
