2020 Municipal Election Date Set
The Province has announced that municipal elections will happen on
November 9, 2020
.
Previously, the 2020 municipal elections were set to happen five days before the 2020 provincial election. The election dates are being amended so the provincial election will take place on October 26, 2020, and the municipal and school board elections will follow two weeks later on November 9, 2020.
Following the 2020 election, future provincial elections will be held on the last Monday in October, and future municipal elections will occur on the second Wednesday in November, unless it falls on Remembrance Day.
Though the move of the municipal election date was not the preferred option, SUMA is pleased that municipal elections will not be postponed by one year, and voters in Saskatchewan's hometowns will continue to head to the polls every four years.
