America's Historic Bird Protections are under Attack
Urge Congress:
Don't let Interior Dept. gut Migratory Bird Treaty Act!
The Department of the Interior is fast-tracking efforts to permanently gut the critical protections in the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), a 100-year-old law that protects more than 1,000 bird species. Proposed changes in Interior’s recent Draft Environmental Impact Statement would cement the bird-killing policy adopted by the agency in 2017 that overturned decades of bipartisan precedent and gave companies a free pass for bird deaths from industrial hazards such as open oil pits and power lines.

It’s time for Congress to halt this attack on America’s birds and legislate new protocols. The birds need us now more than ever! Protecting them is an imperative 24/7, 365 days of the year.

Take action NOW by asking your U.S. Representative to support the new Migratory Bird Protection Act, a bill that will counter the MBTA rollback and add new protocols to the century-old law.  Click HERE to submit your letter electronically.

Note: Audubon will convey your letter to the the Department of the Interior as a public comment.
