"Jack" is 6 weeks old now. For those of you following, Jack is one of Cece's babies. Cece was on the PTS list for the day we took her out and found a merciful foster. We found out THAT DAY that Cece was pregnant and due any moment. Four days after going to foster (and escaping being PTS), Cece have her puppies. Eight puppies were delivered and 4 passed away within a day. I've always felt her puppies were little miracle babies. Cece went through so much in the shelter, was underfed for being a pregnant girl and narrowly escaped being PTS. All of the puppies are little angels, but I think Jack might be the sweetest. He's having some wobble problems, so the shelter is giving him meds. Please pray for Jack. He is available for adoption on December 26 (the last day to adopt a dog before they close for the holiday until Jan. 3, 2023).

This is "Manny." He is 6 weeks old in this picture. He is one of Cece's babie.

This is Cece. She was on the PTS list and we found a foster on the last day of her being PTS. The foster fell through because we learned THAT DAY that she was pregnant and due to deliver puppies within the week. She spent that whole time of being pregnant in the shelter without anyone knowing. She was underfed and overlooked because she is an ordinary black dog and they didn't know she was pregnant. We found a kind hearted foster out of town (literally at the last hour) who took Cece in, so she could have her puppies in a peaceful home. Those are her puppies featured above. The agreement in the beginning was that I would need to bring Cece to the foster in Lake Isabella. Cece delivered 8 puppies just four days after leaving the shelter! Four have passed away and one of the puppies has been reserved by the foster's granddaughter. Every week, I continue to drive to the foster's home, 45 minutes each way, and deliver food for Cece and the puppies, as well as take pictures of the growing babies. The puppies are 7 weeks now and are ready for adoption next week (December 26), or rescue NOW. The foster saved these dogs, as they all would have been euthanized. The foster has a very small house, severe back problems, and numerous other barriers to continue fostering Cece and the puppies, even though she loves them and they are VERY good dogs. We drove the puppies to Bakersfield last week for their shots and drove them to Isabella again and they were so good and quiet. Little Jack may have some neurological problems and is being treated to see what is actually going on. He wobbles a bit. Cece and her puppies CANNOT go back to the shelter. She has suffered enough and the shelter is no place for puppies. PLEASE, if you can help, I can transport, if you need that service. I'll do whatever I can to help. A1168320 for Cece.

"Curly" was so sweet at the shoot. He's a miniature Poodle. He's had a hard time. He has had some health issues and is 10 years old. He has a heart Murmur. They've taken good care of him at the shelter, but he is still matted and has flea eggs on him. He's been too frail to groom. But now he is ready. He rolled over for belly rubs for us. If you're looking for a tiny dog who needs extra love, here's your dog. A1172562.

"Patrick" is a neutered, 5 month old Black Mouth Cur/Carolina mix. He only weighs 29 lbs and is as soft as they come. He was very sweet and the shoot. Scared. A1170560.
He and his two siblings (Penny and Polly) have been trapped at the shelter for TWO MONTHS!! This is not good for puppies to grow up in confinement. I consider this URGENT. If these pups are not adopted soon, they may never recover and be properly adjusted. PLEASE consider adopting one or all of these pups.
"Polly" is a spayed, 5 month old Black Mouth Cur/Carolina mix. She only weighs 32 lbs and is as soft as they come. She was very sweet and the shoot. Scared. Didn't even need a leash. A1170559.
She and her two siblings (Penny and PATRICK) have been trapped at the shelter for TWO MONTHS!! This is not good for puppies to grow up in confinement. I consider this URGENT. If these pups are not adopted soon, they may never recover and be properly adjusted. PLEASE consider adopting one or all of these pups.

"Larry" is 11 weeks old (cue "awww") and weighed 7 lbs on 11/8 when he arrived at the shelter. He is probably a shepherd mix. He's just a little guy...needs some love and attention. Please don't let him grow up in a shelter. He was very sweet during the shoot. A1171979.
"Trigger" is an Australian Cattle Dog. He weighs 44 lbs and is 2 years old. He has such beautiful eyes and coat. He sort of sparkles. He will be available for adoption on 12/20. He was a very good boy at the photoshoot and even laid down for me. A1173909.
Best friends are free this month until they close for the holiday on Dec. 26.
"Winter" in another A+ dog from yesterday's shoot. I noted that she was "perfect" and sweet. She is 3 years old, 21 lbs and as pretty as can be. I often wonder if Siberian Huskies look in the mirror and wish they had round eyebrows so they wouldn't look so mad. Of course, nobody would mess with your cat converter if they saw her looking out the window. What a beauty, though...and petite! A1173265.
"Chase" is so little at 19 lbs. He is 5 years old. He's probably got "Cherry Eye," which can be treated. He needs someone with a big heart to take him and help him look and feel his best. He should never be overlooked because of his Cherry Eyes. He cannot fix this himself and needs someone to come along and help him. A1173579.
"Frost" cracks me up. If you want a potential internet sensation, here ya go. He talks! I speak dog, so I can verify that he yelled across the room to another random dog, "I love you, play with me!!" Just look up on the internet "Alaskan Husky talking" and you will hear the dialect. He is 1 year old, seems very sweet and SMART as anything. Turn off the TV and watch the antics of this talkative dog. A1173373.
"Ivy" was a very good girl. A+ dog. Soft, sweet, responsive to my requests. She is an Alaskan Husky and 1 year old. She is just so pretty. She'd prefer a cooler climate and something to do. Huskies are highly intelligent and need exercise! A1173372.
"Sherri" is a German Shepherd and so cute and sweet! Another A+ dog. She was soft and easy to work with. Very nice personality. She's about 6 months old, and 38 lbs. I love her coloring and her intelligence. A1173592.
"Socks" is a 2 year old Australian Cattle Dog who weighs 57 lbs. He was great at the shoot and Got an A; sweet, calm, easy, in tune with his surroundings. His look is striking and I bet he is good at fetching red frisbies at idealic parks, while someone videos you both and then you both becomes famous internet stars. Come and meet him, take him home. Get started on the dream. A1173267.
"Rocky" is a volunteer favorite. We witnessed him being bullied in his kennel. The bully dog had his whole mouth around Rocky's head and started to shake it. After this happened, we saw Rocky go to the corner and avoid eye contact with the mean dog. We had the mean dog moved to another kennel. Apparently Rocky is a lover, not a fighter. It's important to know that he will avoid conflict. That's a wonderful nature. He is 2 years old, 53 lbs, German Shepherd. Please come and save him. A1172802.
"Ellie" is a probably a Boxer mix. She's sniffed her way right into the photo area. She was smart, quiet, and very soft. She has been well taken care of by the shelter staff, but it's well past time for her to lay on green grass and relax on a soft couch. She weighs 36 lbs, and is about 3 years old. She is spayed and ready to go. Beautiful dog. A1171881.
"Tyler" is a 4 year old Curly Coated Border Collie. This will literally save you countless hours of having to curl his hair everyday like you do with some dogs (right, lol?) He weighs 47 lbs, was clam in the kennel, quiet in general, and a great poser. He would be excellent as a constant companion and is built to work. He has beautiful eyes and would like to stare at you with them...while you're making steak. Come and get this beautiful dog. A1173471.
"Roscoe" is one of our A+ dogs for the day. He is a 3 year old Border Collie. He was easy on the leash, calm, and, and seems a little down. He weighs 54 lbs and seems like he has eaten a little too many cookies. Maybe that's why I like him so much. He needs some joy in his life. I promised I would help. He is gorgeous and seems like he would be a forever friend. A1173368.
"Prince" is a 2 year old German Shepherd. He weighs 51 lbs, has beautiful eyes, was very sweet, and seemed very smart. Great at the shoot and very easy. A1172889.
"Lillian" is one of those super soft dogs that I just love. They are smaller and just so dang cute. She is year old and listed as a shepherd mix. She weighs 40 lbs. She is really scared at the shelter. She and her sibling (at least they were brought in together) cuddle very close in the kennel (dog pile style). I think they are bonded. This little girl and her sister, Luna, need out. A1173488.
"Luna" is one of those super soft dogs that I just love. They are smaller and just so dang cute. She is year old and listed as a shepherd mix. She weighs 42 lbs. She is really scared at the shelter. She and her sibling (at least they were brought in together) cuddle very close in the kennel (dog pile style). I think they are bonded. This little girl and her sister need out. A1173488.
"Lexi" is a McNab Shepherd. She is 11 months old, and already spayed. At the shoot, she was very sweet, smart, and beautiful. She did very well following commands with me. She weighs 42 lbs.
Bill" is an Alaskan Husky. He's 2 years old, 50 lbs, and was very easy, obedient, and cooperative at our shoot. He has beautiful blue eyes. He's from Alaska, but decided to move to Texas and that's where he changed his name to Bill. After a short stay there, he realized his decision was poorly made, as the heat was a little too much. He then moved to Bakersfield and realized he had once again "faux-pawed." He'd like to move to a colder location if possible but will do anything to get out of Kern County Shelter as there's no room to run. Entire story made up.
A1172230.
"Molly-Mae" is as sweet as her name. She has pretty green eyes and was VERY good at the shoot. She posed right up for me. She seems to be a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. 70 lbs, 2 years old. She's probably be an excellent hunting dog. A1173851.
"River" is a working dog who will surprise you with his agility. He showed off for us a little. He is so happy and said, "Look what I can do!" (Stuart -Mad TV reference-comment if you get it). He is Queensland Heeler, neutered, 2 years old, ready to ride in the truck with you (or the car, or the tractor, or anything that moves). A1172305.
"Francois" aka Frankie, was so sweet. I don't know where he lived before, but one of his ears was chewed or frost bitten completely off and the other one isn't looking whole either. He was doing that low key whiney thing that was him begging for the cuddles. In the short time we had him for photos, he responded very well and started to open up. He loved belly rubs. He has beautiful eyes! Please come and give a few more belly rubs and if you're not in love, I'll be surprised. A1173496.
"Jingle" showed me by her pose exactly what she is built to do. She was designed to guard sheep. Pyrenees lay down among the sheep and pop their heads up to see what's around. This dog was super sweet with us. She was a little shy but friendly. She weighs 72 lbs, is about a year and a half old, and is ready for adoption on 12/20. A1173907.
"Roger" is 2 years old, 55lbs, and very smart (he has a law degree from Yale apparently). Mark found his favorite spot and when he scratched it, Roger's legs got going. He's got a unique ear flop on his right ear. Very cute. A1173612.
"Caspian" is a 2 year old German Shepherd, weighing 71 lbs. At the shoot he was smart and calm. He didn't jump. Great poser. He has a cute ear flop. He can listen in two directions (lol). Being in the shelter is extremely hard on GSDs. It works on their pscyhe because they are meant to be protectors. Please come and pick out a loyal German Shephard. Might save your life someday. A1172888.
"Petey" is 9 month old Australian Cattle Dog. He had puppy pure energy; no guile, just sweetness. He weighs 37 lbs, is good with other dogs, good on leash. He's the whole package. Every time I look at him, I think of Little Rascals Tv show; a bygone era. A1171574.
Still on the PTS list. Cleared some room in the shelter with recent adoptions but she is still in danger. "Edna" is a 1 year old shepherd mix, weighs 42 lbs, and was very sweet and energetic. She loved treats. The shelter is still overcrowded and more dogs coming in every day. Can you help Edna? A1172596.
"King Gobbles" is a 2 year old Shepherd. He weighs 57 lbs. I immediately thought, "Police K9 unit" with this dogs, and so did a volunteer. He has that presence. His markings are gorgeous and he'd like to come home with you. Very smart and seems very trainable. A1172729.
Still on the PTS list. Cleared some room in the shelter with recent adoptions but she is still in danger. "Ella" is a shepherd mix, who is one year old. She weighs 40 lbs, and has such a happy face. She was on today's PTS sleep list, but we have asked for 48 hours. Please call, or better yet, head down there to see if you'd like to save her. A1172597.
At risk! "Josephine" is a 1 year old Siberian Husky who weighs 33 lbs. She likes to play and likes treats. She was a little shy at first, but perked right up at her shoot. She prefers if you pronounce her name with a soft J (Ho-sephine) because it sounds much classier. And she sure is a beauty! A1173127.
At risk! "Bentley" seems to be a dog that wants relationship. Very sweet, happy energy, sat on my foot when cuddling. He's 3 years old, Chinese Sharpei mix, and 43 lbs. If you adopt him, you can use your lock jaw accent and tell people loudly, "Bring Bentley around!" and they will think you mean the car and will think you're rich. Come down and meet this boy. A1153475.
Please come down to the Shelter at:
At risk! "Superman" is a big brute of a dog that will command respect from everyone around. He's big! He pulls pretty strongly, but maybe you're man enough. He was nice with me and has beautiful eyes. It's not uncommon for dogs (especially big ones) to have a lot of energy pent up. He's 4 years old and 95 lbs. Listed as German Shepherd mix. A1171402.

AT RISK "Westly" would like to tell you her sad story. Firstly, why is her name Westly? That's just not right! That needs to be changed, stat.
