Tell Governor Walz and Minnesota legislators
to pass a bonding bill in September!
Legislators will be coming back into session tomorrow, Friday, September 11. They should work now to get a bonding bill ready to be passed on or after September 20.

After the 2020 Regular Session and three Special Sessions, it's beyond time for the legislature to do its job and pass a capital bonding bill that will invest in our infrastructure and our economy. At a time of historically low interest rates and an unprecedented economic collapse, there is no reason – only excuses – for not passing a capital bonding bill that invests in our state's infrastructure, communities and families.

You can make a difference by adding your voice to the hundreds of people all asking - today - for passage of a bonding bill during a special session later in September. We need your voice. Please take a couple of minutes to send a message to the governor and your legislators. We need to keep fighting for our infrastructure needs and our industry.

Dear (Governor Walz) / (Senator ____) / (Representative______):

Economic recovery from COVID-19 needs to be a top priority right now. With uncertainty around future construction and unemployment, the legislature needs to take action to create jobs and keep people working. State funding in the bonding bill will leverage additional local and federal funds to create tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs that are desperately needed all across Minnesota.

Maintaining publicly-owned assets remains a core government function. This legislation is a necessity - not a nicety. Passage of this bill should not be used as a bargaining chip that is tied to other issues. Providing bond funds at a time of historically low interest rates in order to repair and maintain public infrastructure that will last for generations should be the main job for the legislature this year. It's time to get the job done.

The time is NOW for agreement on a bill that can pass both the House and Senate. After months of hearings and negotiations, agreement has been reached on the size of the bill and the need to invest in Minnesota's public infrastructure. Projects are waiting for funding and work can begin right away on design and construction with significant benefits for the whole economy.

The longer passage of the bonding bill is delayed, the more economic damage will be done. Some businesses will close permanently without action to help Minnesota's economy. Passing a bonding bill in September is critical for our future.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
