As many of you are aware, Windflower Kennel in Arizona is in the process of reducing the number of dogs on their property. Kuvasz Fanciers of America has been familiar with this kennel for 20 years, having rescued a number of kuvasz of their breeding they refused to take back.
It is important to note that unless Windflower releases all the kuvasz and/or the authorities seize all the kuvasz, they are the property of Windflower, and rescue cannot act. We hope the situation is fully resolved soon for those kuvasz still in their possession. We remain in contact with the local authorities and a local non-profit, Pet Allies, which is accepting the dogs as the owner decides to release them.
KFA is dedicated to helping those kuvasz that come into rescue; however, Pet Allies is the only rescue organization Windflower Kennel will communicate with. As such, we are encouraging our supporters who want to assist, either by monetary donations or by adopting one of the kuvasz, to do so directly with Pet Allies.
KFA will facilitate the transportation of some of the kuvasz to new homes around the country. If you can assist, by volunteering to do one leg of a relay, anywhere in the country, please contact KFA.
KFA welcomes the views of the entire "kuvasz community" when developing policy on various issues. We also know that not everyone will agree with all the decisions KFA must make, on very short notice, and in situations that are never exactly the same as the last rescue or fit neatly into existing policies. We believe our track record of being the only kuvasz organization in North America that actively helps kuvasz in trouble year after year proves that we are worthy of your trust in our decision making and your support of our efforts.
Sincerely,
