From President Frank H. Wu:
Like all of CUNY's four-year colleges, Queens College--consistent with recommendations from the college’s Academic Senate, Personnel and Budget Committee, and Student Association—is extending the flexible grading policy to the Fall 2020 semester. Students enrolled in most classes at QC can convert letter grades from B+ to D (undergraduate students) or B+ to C- (graduate students) into a grade of Credit (“CR”); F can be converted to No Credit (“NC”). Unlike traditional letter grades, grades of CR or NC do not affect grade point averages.
The flexible grading option is not available for categories of courses needed for licensure or certification, or for prerequisite classes with minimum grades set for progression in a particular course sequence. Queens College's policy is designed to help prevent adverse impact to students as they advance with their education or pursue professional tracks.
A dedicated website on the Queens College portal covers the policy, FAQs, and courses that are exempt from the flexible grading policy.
Grades are due Wednesday, December 23. Faculty should submit grades as usual, in CUNYfirst (HR/Campus Solutions > Self Service > Faculty Center > My Schedule > Grade Roster; grade roster manual: If you have any questions about grade rosters, please contact Maksuda Khatoon (
Students are being reminded about their options in a separate communication. They will have between December 24 until January 12 to choose CR/NC grades.
I thank you for all your hard work, which has enabled Queens College to serve our students in new and different ways.
