Dear Church Family and friends of St. John’s UMC,
This afternoon the church Pre-School Plus director, Carmen Vargas, received a call from the New Mexico Department of Health notifying her that an adult family member who dropped off and picked up a child on March 4 and 9, 2020 tested positive for COVID-19.
After prayerful discernment of your pastors, staff members, church council chair, trustee chair, and trusted medical persons, we have reached a decision to close St. John’s United Methodist Church, effective immediately (March 12, 2020) through March 27, 2020. All events and ministries of St. John’s are cancelled during this period of time. Worship services will commence again on March 29th.
Because older adults, over the age of 60, are especially vulnerable to this virus, and a large percentage of our congregants fall in this age range, we feel this critical to our decision. We are lovingly being cautious on behalf of our entire church family, inclusive of the Pre-School Plus program.
Throughout the duration of this period of two weeks, the church wants to remain attentive to your pastoral care needs. If you have a presenting medical concern, please contact us through the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. This email will be checked regularly. Pastor Kelly and Pastor Pam will attend to needs with discernment. If you have a general prayer concern, please contact our prayer chain at email@example.com.
We will keep you updated on any changes through
