“We’re deluged with ballots right now," Marion County Clerk Bill Burgess said. "This is unprecedented early turnout."

As of early Tuesday, Oregon voters had returned 279,454 ballots — 9.5% of total ballots issued this year. 

At this point in 2016, only about 4% of ballots had been returned.

The greater percentage of ballots cast in this election is even more noteworthy considering there are 15.5% more registered voters this year compared to four years ago — 2,949,377 this year compared to 2,553,806 in 2016.

The Marion County Democrats Nominating Committee had our first meeting last night. We are tasked with finding and supporting anyone who wants to run for Our Chair, Vice Chairs, Secretary and Treasurer. One does not have to be a PCP to run for these positions. The only requirement is that the candidate is a registered Democrat in Marion County. 

We would like to hear from interested persons by November 9th. Anyone who files will receive a Candidate Questionnaire. The last day to return the Candidate Questionnaire for inclusion with the agenda is November 12th. The reorganization election will be held Thursday, November 19th. Our bylaws do allow for nominations from the floor however your information would not be included in the advanced agenda if you wait for the meeting on November 19th.
