What does USPS IBI Meter Decertification mean?

The USPS has announced that all IBI, older style postage meters, have become "Decertified" and need to be upgraded to the newer, hi-security meter, the IMI meter. This change is due to updates in postal security and advancements in technology. The USPS will decertify all Information Based Indicia (IBI) postage meters as of June 30, 2024, and by December 31, 2024, IBI systems must be withdrawn from use.
