Christian Women, Life and the Corona Virus . . .
Last Saturday, March 14th, many
Sisters, Servants and Soldiers'
met for a Ladies' Day at the Siwell Road church of Christ in Clinton, Mississippi.
It was a very special morning of studying God's Word and just being together with other sisters who have the same heart, spirit and love for The Lord! For about 3 hours, we were set apart from the cares and anxieties of the world.
We knew that when we opened those doors, we were going back into the world with news of the coronavirus overwhelming us daily. I think that made the morning of fellowship in Jesus Christ that much sweeter.
We can't help but know that people are getting ill and dying. Our hearts hurt for those families and friends who have been affected.
However, we also know that healthy people and children have an extremely low fatality rate. Right now in the U.S. the goal is to stop the spread of the virus in order not to overwhelm our health care system.
I have done a lot of study on the virus. Here are 4 things that I and my family are doing during this time:
(1)
Praying
daily for healing and for the families who have been affected.
Praying
for the U.S. to get a handle on the spread of the virus and finding best practices for treating it.
(2)
Prudence
. . . God gave us brains and free will. He also gave us His Word for everything that pertains to life and godliness. This is the time to value and use both on a daily basis!
And "Yes." We can help stop the spread of the virus by staying out of large crowds, washing our hands, getting sunlight, eating healthy and keeping calm and peace in our homes. The Bible tells us "Do not fret. It only causes harm." Psalm 37
(3)
Prepare
. . . The Proverbs 31 woman was praised for being prepared. It caused her to be able to smile at the future. Abigail was another example of a wise woman who was prepared. Whatever is happening in this world, we can learn from this experience that we need to be prepared for the unexpected.
(3)
Practice Christianity
. . . Look for ways to serve others. Let your children see you being the salt, light and leaven that God intended for us to be as His Hands, His Feet and His Heart in this world!
__________
We need to be praying that we will be strong and not anxious. This is an opportunity to let the world see us as the women in this world who personify the "peace that passes understanding."
