Christian Women, Life and the Corona Virus . . .

Last Saturday, March 14th, many Sisters, Servants and Soldiers' met for a Ladies' Day at the Siwell Road church of Christ in Clinton, Mississippi.

It was a very special morning of studying God's Word and just being together with other sisters who have the same heart, spirit and love for The Lord! For about 3 hours, we were set apart from the cares and anxieties of the world.

We knew that when we opened those doors, we were going back into the world with news of the coronavirus overwhelming us daily. I think that made the morning of fellowship in Jesus Christ that much sweeter.

We can't help but know that people are getting ill and dying. Our hearts hurt for those families and friends who have been affected. However, we also know that healthy people and children have an extremely low fatality rate. Right now in the U.S. the goal is to stop the spread of the virus in order not to overwhelm our health care system.

I have done a lot of study on the virus. Here are 4 things that I and my family are doing during this time:

(1) Praying daily for healing and for the families who have been affected. Praying for the U.S. to get a handle on the spread of the virus and finding best practices for treating it.

(2) Prudence . . . God gave us brains and free will. He also gave us His Word for everything that pertains to life and godliness. This is the time to value and use both on a daily basis!

And "Yes." We can help stop the spread of the virus by staying out of large crowds, washing our hands, getting sunlight, eating healthy and keeping calm and peace in our homes. The Bible tells us "Do not fret. It only causes harm." Psalm 37

(3) Prepare . . . The Proverbs 31 woman was praised for being prepared. It caused her to be able to smile at the future. Abigail was another example of a wise woman who was prepared. Whatever is happening in this world, we can learn from this experience that we need to be prepared for the unexpected.

(3) Practice Christianity . . . Look for ways to serve others. Let your children see you being the salt, light and leaven that God intended for us to be as His Hands, His Feet and His Heart in this world!

__________

We need to be praying that we will be strong and not anxious. This is an opportunity to let the world see us as the women in this world who personify the "peace that passes understanding."

Details for the Daughters of the King Workshop July 19th-23, 2020
While praying daily that the coronavirus will be contained and managed by the month of July, we are continuing to plan for the Daughters of the King Workshop. We are planning on taking 20 spiritually minded young ladies who will study the Bible in-depth, be encouraged and supported in teaching, and be taught by strong Christian women. Among other things, we will be studying the women in the Bible. We have a few openings left.

The girls will be asked to come to the Lodge at Graymere Church of Christ, 1320 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN, no later than 5:00 on Sunday, the 19th. They should bring bed linens, Bibles and personal care products. The lodge accommodates as many as 40 people. Parents will be asked to pick up their young ladies on Thursday, July 23rd, between 2:00 and 4:00. Meals will be provided. In this Month's previous Newsletter , I introduced several of the teachers. We have a fantastic lineup of Christian ladies! If you need further information, please contact me at sbutt@charter.net.

Here is a link to a registration form. You may download it and send it in, or send the information to me at the same email address: sbutt@charter.net.

Notes for those sending DEVOTIONALS for the upcoming SSS Devotional Books . . .

We love having your devotionals being submitted! While we are spending more time in our homes, this would be a great time for you to write your devotional thoughts and send them in.

We enjoy reading them and adding them to the book. That being said, we need to do a better job of attributing our quoted material to the original source. We want to be very careful not to be plagiarizing. It is fine to use other people's quotes, etc, however, we certainly want to give them the proper credit. I hope we will all take note of this and save our editors some time in trying to track down the sources.

Thanks so much! Keep them coming!

If you have a suggestion for a Title for our first volume, please send it to sbutt@charter.net. We have received some suggestions and will be sharing them with you soon!
Here are the guidelines for our writers:

(1) 150 to 250 words more or less
(2) Include Scripture
(3) Up to 5 submissions per person will be accepted for publication for this first book
(4) Writers name and city will be noted

Submit to:  sbutt@charter.net  with  SSS DEVO in the subject line.

What a great time for parents and grandparents to teach our young people some of the important things in how to "Do Life" that most are not learning in the classroom!

Prayer and devotionals should also be an integral part of our everyday lives. It's our responsibility!
