Safety Savings Account
The AMLJIA provides each member with a safety savings account. Members may use these funds to purchase gloves, disinfectants, and other supplies needed to protect your employees from coronavirus. To check your entity's account balance, email your  AMLJIA Risk Control Specialists  or call 1-800-337-3682.
We are keeping in touch with local suppliers and distributors, so email or call if you need assistance tracking down in-demand supplies. Some things to remember:
  • N95 respirators are in short supply nationwide. Health care providers are given priority as supplies become available. If you must order respirators, P100 respirators are available. Employees must be fit tested before using N95 or P100 respirators.
  • Surgical masks are not considered respiratory protection. They do NOT provide reliable protection against inhalation of airborne particles. However, if you are ill, they can provide some protection to those around you when you cough and sneeze.
  • Nitrile gloves are available, but there may be restrictions on the quantity allowed in a single purchase depending on availability. Train employees how to properly put gloves on and take them off to prevent contact with possible contaminants.
  • If you can't find store-bought disinfectants, make your own by mixing 1/3 cup household bleach into 1 gallon of water or 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water. Use proper ventilation, and NEVER mix bleach with ammonia or any other cleanser.
  • For an non-bleach disinfectant, use an alcohol solution with at least 70% alcohol.
Your AMLJIA safety savings account can be used for all safety-related supplies, from PPE to fire extinguishers to Exit signs. If you have questions or need assistance, please email or call 1-800-337-3682.
