One Faith Fellowship Honors the Legacy of
Bishop Hines

Mrs. Mildred Hines, the First Woman to Be Named a Bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Dies at Age 67

Without any prior relationship, Bishop Hines opened the doors of her entire campus to host the very first One Faith Fellowship Weekend Gathering--and refused to charge our Ministry!

Bishop Hines also was a guest for our cable ministry!

Thank You Bishop Hines! You will always be remembered and honored! We love you!

Use Your Power Wisely! (1 of 5)

Isn’t it amazing the many times we don’t recognize the value of something?

A coin which we think is just a coin to be used for spending, but to others is a rare and precious coin.

Older automobiles are just modes of transportation to some, but to others, they are classic cars.

Classic cars being of sentimental and great value to their owners.

There is the tendency to think and take for granted things which we say as just simple words.

Deeds done carelessly without any real thought and considered simple actions.

But how many of us have been greatly impacted by just the right word being said at just the right time or the right action being done at the right moment?

Too often, we don’t realize that we were being used by God to bless people’s lives which also provided blessings for our own life.

Times when we were at our very lowest and God sent the right person, sometimes the most unlikely person, to be our knight in shining armor.

He, she, or they spoke a word that raised us up out of the pit of discouragement, sadness, and hopelessness.

Proverbs 16:24- Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. (NLT)

Use Your Power Wisely! (2 of 5)

What about when we per our evaluation did simple acts of love, only to find out that it was God using us to be the needed blessing for others?

This in turn blessed us to learn that we were being blessings in disguise.

So, no, they are not just words or actions. They are power-packed exchanges.

They could be life-changing, being the difference between one’s life and death.

This is why the Bible encourages us to be mindful about what we say, how we say it, what we do and how we do it.

1 Samuel 2:3- “Stop acting so proud and haughty! Don’t speak with such arrogance! For the LORD is a God who knows what you have done; He will judge your actions. (NLT)

Frequently, we will be used by God as His voice, hands, and feet, not even realizing the GREAT AND AWESOME privilege that we have in representing Him.

This is why we must be sober-minded and value our opportunities to interact with others as well as those personal moments with God in our own life.

We don’t want to do actions or say words to others or to ourselves that are destructive.

We want to “Use Our Power Wisely”. Proverbs 12:18-Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing. (NLT)

Use Your Power Wisely! (3 of 5)

Jesus is quoted as saying in:

Matthew 12:34-… For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.

35-A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.

36-And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.

37-The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” There is life and death in the power of our tongue.

Proverbs 18:21-The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. (NLT)

James 3:5- In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.

6-And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

The tongue, although such a small member of the body, but powerful and dangerous, if not used correctly, can cause harm.

The tongue can rally people together to do amazing works or it can rip people apart in such a way that is unimaginable.

Use Your Power Wisely! (4 of 5)

Proverbs 10:19- Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. (NLT)

20- The tongue of the righteous is like precious silver (greatly valued). (Amp. Bible)

21- The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense. (NLT)

So, our challenge is not to consider our words as just words and to speak them nonchalantly.

Our actions are not just actions to be done haphazardly.

1 John 3:18-Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. (NLT)

But at all times, we MUST consider the impact the power that our words and actions have on others, as well as the words we speak to ourselves.

When we really listen to and reverence what our Daddy-God has commanded in His Holy Word, then we will be more careful in attending to our words.

God is all around us and He uses various ways to speak to our hearts.

Use Your Power Wisely!  (5 of 5)

The child that we may want to sit down and be quiet could have the very word that we need to hear.

Such was the case when my two-year-old son reminded me years ago “Mommy, don’t be afraid, God is with us”.

That was definitely a Rhema Word, (a specific Word which I needed to hear and apply to my life at that particular time.

It was definitely a needed word of encouragement from our Loving Heavenly Father through the mouth of a babe.

So, let’s elevate our insight, roles, and opportunities of who we are and what we do to understand that we are valuable to God to be used of Him to spread His Word of joy and peace.

By so doing, we will also become sensitive of our value as Ministers of God to one to another.

Proverbs 15:4- A soothing tongue [speaking words that build up and encourage] is a tree of life, But a perversive tongue [speaking words that overwhelm and depress] crushes the spirit. (Amp. Bible)

Be careful, powerful hands with what you do.

Be careful, powerful mouth with what you speak, in Jesus’ mighty name!

God bless you and yours!
