Take a Hike with MRPA!
Join Windham Parks & Recreation for a fall hike!

On October 16th - 18th, families all across the state of Maine will explore parks and trails in their own community. Let’s head outdoors and join the fun!

As part of “Take a Hike” weekend, we’ll be posting fresh stories at both Story Walk locations, and it’s the perfect opportunity to try the Windham Geocache Adventure! You don’t have to be a hiker; running, walking, biking, and all ways of enjoying the trails are encouraged. This is a great way to enjoy the fall weather and spend time as a family while practicing social distancing.

No registration is required! Just visit the Facilities page on our website to find trail maps and more information about our local parks, and then hit the trail!
Creative Kiddie Craft Time
Children ages 2-5 and their adult caregivers are invited to craft and create together! This is spin off of the previous popular “Seasonal Creations” program, updated to allow us to comply with health protocols. Moms and dads, grandparents, babysitters, aunts and uncles… All are welcome to join us at Town Hall for simple craft projects with all supplies provided.

Space is limited by our facility capacity; participants will need to wear masks to enter and exit, but masks are not required while seated at your family’s craft table.
Dates: Wednesday October 21 or Thursday October 22
Time: 10 am - 11am
Location: Windham Town Hall Gym
Fee: $5 per child
2020 Windham Geocache Adventure!
Looking for a fun activity to try during your next hike on Windham's trails? Let’s go geocaching! Geocaching is a real-life treasure hunting game that uses GPS-enabled devices and GPS coordinates to find hidden treasures called geocaches.

We’ve hidden geocaches at four local parks and preserves: Donnabeth Lippman Park, Lowell Preserve, Mountain Division Trail, and Black Brook Preserve. Each cache contains location-specific wooden nickels. Hit the trail and see if you can find them all!

Ends Monday, November 30 - no pre-registration is required!

  • Nets will need to be put up and taken down each day
  • Nets and extra paddles will be stored on site in a Rubbermaid Container secured with a combination lock. Combination is available to anyone who registers for this free program

Weekly Shopping
Join Windham Parks & Recreation every Thursday morning to go shopping in North Windham. This program is FREE and for seniors who can't drive or get to a store on their own. Due to the limited number of people that can be on the bus at one time, participants are required to call our office and reserve your spot between Monday - Wednesday of that week. The route and the times that you may have to remain at a given store may vary slightly each week based upon the number of participants that reserve a spot. Call us at 892-1905 to reserve your spot.
Monthly Lunches
Due to the limitations caused by COVID-19, we know you have been missing the opportunity to “get out and about” with Windham Parks and Recreation, so we are going to bring the entertainment and good food to you! In addition to providing a meal from one of our local restaurants, we will be providing some type of program as well. There will be a maximum number of people allowed in the gym for the in-person option (with safety measures being in place) or we are offering curb-side “to go” meals with the pick-up location being at Town Hall, outside the gym door. Registration is required for both options, with the in-person option being a greater fee due to the cost of the entertainment being provided.
Come learn about what it was like to be a student in a one-room schoolhouse of the late 19th century from Windham Historical Society's very own schoolmarm, Paula Sparks, and perhaps, you can share some fun stories about your schooldays as well.
