Usher Visits ArtsBuild
Awards ReGenerate with Matching Grant

Music superstar Usher visited ArtsBuild on Monday, February 27. He presented a matching grant to ReGenerate high school arts leadership group, from the Nancy Lackey Community Education Fund. ReGenerate was founded in 2014 to advocate and raise funds for arts education in Hamilton County schools. Last year the group awarded a total of $2,500 to seven Hamilton County elementary and middle schools to provide funding for arts programs.

2017 Ruth Holmberg Arts Leadership Award
Honoring Sonia Young
Sonia Young, locally known as "The Purple Lady," will be honored during the 2017 Ruth Holmberg Arts Leadership Award presentation on Tuesday, March 7. ArtsBuild will host the event at the Hunter Museum of American Art from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

The 2017 Ruth Holmberg Arts Leadership Award is sponsored by First Tennessee Bank, EMJ Corporation, and the Chattanooga Times Free Press. 
Arts Advocacy Day 2017
2017 Arts Advocacy Day

Hamilton County arts professionals and volunteers visited Nashville on Wednesday for 2017 Arts Advocacy Day. We sincerely appreciate the continued support of our legislators who value the arts in Chattanooga and across Tennessee. Their support of the specialty license plate program allows more than $4.5 million to be generated for the arts annually in Tennessee. Special thanks to  Mike Bell, Todd Gardenhire, Bo Watson, Kevin Brooks, Mike Carter, JoAnne Favors, Marc Gravitt, Patsy Hazelwood, Dan Howell, Gerald McCormick. ArtsBuild Announces 
New Grant Programs

ArtsBuild will accept applications for two new, competitive grant programs this spring: Mission Support grants and  Program/Project Support grants.
 
Mission Support grants replace ArtsBuild's current Cultural Partner grant program and are designed to support access to the arts by providing general operating funds to eligible organizations, which have arts at the core of their missions.
 
Organizations that are interested in applying and have not received Cultural Partner funding in the past are required to contact ArtsBuild's Director of Grants and Initiatives, Rodney Van Valkenburg, at (423) 777-4214 or rodney@artsbuild.com by March 10. Application deadline for Mission Support grants is March 31, 2017.
 
Program/Project Support grants support access to the arts by providing funds for arts programs and projects to eligible arts and non-arts nonprofit organizations and government entities. Applications for Program/Project Support grants will be available beginning March 3. Deadline to apply is April 30, 2017.

Chattanooga Ballet | 
An Evening in Havana

Chattanooga Ballet  presents "An Evening in Havana" fundraising event presented at the William M. Montague, Jr. Center for the Dance, March 30, 2017 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. The event includes a cocktail reception with heavy hors d'oeurves, silent auction, and special performances by Chattanooga Ballet Company Dancers. Proceeds benefit Chattanooga Ballet's Dancer Scholarship Fund.
 
Chattanooga Ballet will also present the 1st Annual L'Etoile Award to Warren Barnett of Barnett & Company.
