Using Hemi-Sync: Surgery and Pain Management

Hope you are enjoying your summer. I'm doing well, but have been taking a bit of break.
You see...on May 10th, I had surgery. It wasn't life-threatening, but something I needed to do.
I decided to put Hemi-Sync to the TEST! And boy, did I!
First, I had to make sure my surgeon was on board. I gave him a copy of the Surgical Support CDs to try and also a copy of a book: Healing Myself: A Hero's Primer's for Recovery from Trauma by Gari Carter.
He liked the idea. "Sure," he said.
I said: "You understand that I want to be wearing a headset before, during and after surgery? It will be attached to my Ipod."
He said: "Fine!"
Before arriving, I begin preparation.
 I loaded my Surgical Support CDs onto my Ipod. I also loaded other exercises and MetaMusic (music with binaural beats). I included Super Sleep (ocean sounds for sleeping) and also some pink/white noise Hemi-Sync for times I didn't want to be listening to music or guided meditations.
I purchased Sleep Phones, which made it easy and comfortable to listen to Hemi-Sync while sleeping and/or doing others things.

I started listening to Hemi-Sync the day before. Upon my arrival early the morning of the big day, I had planned to listen to the pre-op meditation to help relieve anxiety.
But a funny thing happened, which I have yet to explain. I didn't even need to listen to the CD. The surgeons and nurses were amazed at how calm I was. I was too. How could this be?
The nurse jokingly said: "I am having trouble finding your pulse."
Really? My heart rate was normal and so not as easy to detect and this surprised everyone, including me. I experienced no pre-surgery anxiety!
Before I was oblivious to everything around me (meaning before they knocked me out), I started the exercise that I wanted to play during surgery. Once in recovery, I had the nurse change my exercise to one designed for recovery.
After arriving in my room, I played a combination of MetaMusic, guided meditations and Super Sleep 24/7 for about seven days straight. Yes, I did! The only time I wasn't listening to Hemi-Sync was when I was in the shower.
 When I was watching movies or talking to people, I just turned the volume down really low.
I am convinced that using Hemi-Sync in this way not only helped speed up my recovery (just order and read the book by Gari Carter for a better understanding of how this works), but it also helped me take less pain medication and sleep better at night.

Scheduling More Workshops This Fall in Tulsa and OKC
This fall, I'll be offering beginning workshops (Excursion Workshop), but will also be able to offer some advanced programs. By the end of the summer, we should have three new advanced programs available from The Monroe Institute. These are brand new programs and I am most excited about being able to offer them. Always looking for people to host. All we need is five people to make a workshop!

My friends Pam and Matthew will be offering this workshop again next year. And Pam and I are looking at offering a similar program near Panama in 2012. On this trip, you'd also swim with whales!
