As we continue work on the upcoming release of New Scale MPM Pathfinder software, the excellent feedback from our beta testers results in some new features. This month we preview a "fun" one - support for the use of gaming controllers!

The upcoming Pathfinder software release (currently in beta) for the Multi-Probe Micromanipulator (MPM) System contains a number of features and enhancements suggested by our users. One such feature is support for Xbox-style gaming controllers.

This feature was recommended by Kate Hong (Hong Lab, Carnegie Mellon University). The Hong Lab is a beta site for integration of the MPM Pathfinder software with the Neuropixels Trajectory Explorer (NTE) being developed by Andy Peters (Peters Lab, Oxford).

Researchers in the Deisseroth Lab at Stanford University have published an article, Cardiogenic control of affective behavourial state, in a recent issue of Nature. The team used the Multi-Probe Micromanipulator (MPM) System controlled by SpikeGLX software, and one or two four-shank Neuropixels 2.0 probes, for the electrophysiology work.

"Our approach… has the potential for broad application to a range of physiological systems throughout the body—opening up numerous opportunities to explore the complex interactions between physiological systems in health, disease and treatment," they write.
