Heritage Workshops on the Road!

Participants across the state are benefiting from our traveling workshops designed to give hands-on information and experience. Check out upcoming dates and deadlines:

Grant Writing Workshops
There is still time to sign up! Join us in Moab on November 2 or Salt Lake City on December 2 for a free, hands-on workshop focused on grant writing basics. Grants managers from the Utah Division of Arts & Museums and Utah Humanities are teaching about best practices and tools for getting your message across, common budget errors, evaluation strategies, as well as general organizational readiness. One-on-one consultations are available following each workshop. Workshops are free, but registration is required.

Museum Interpretation Workshops
Apply now for 2017 Museum Interpretation Workshops! Learn how to research, design, and create interpretive exhibits and educational activities. This series of five full-day linked workshops offers staff and volunteers working in Utah's small museums hands-on learning in curatorial practice and exhibit development. Participants attend the entire series and complete a small exhibit project at their own museum. The 2017 series will take place in St George and Leeds. Applications are due January 6, 2017. For more information, see the Museum Interpretation tab on our Heritage Workshops page.

Oral History Workshops
Our 2016 Oral History workshops provided participants with a focused introduction to the art and craft of oral history, as well as information about our Oral History Grants offered jointly by Utah Humanities and the Utah Division of State History. Let us know if you are interested in bringing this workshop to your community in 2017!

Utah is Hosting the National Humanities Conference

Utah Humanities is proud to sponsor and host The 2016 National Humanities Conference!

The 2016 conference theme is  Humanities Partnerships - Meeting Local and Global Challenges

This conference, coming up November 10-13, will be the first in a series of joint Federation of State Humanities Councils and National Humanities Alliance national meetings that will bring the humanities community together as a whole to consider how, by leveraging our strengths, we can achieve broader public impact and showcase the fundamental role the humanities play in addressing both local and global challenges.

We are thrilled to showcase our beautiful, vibrant state during this conference. We have created many opportunities for attendees to explore downtown and surrounding areas with tours and an interactive site map.
