Nominees for Utah Supreme Court

The Appellate Court Nominating Commission has selected nominees for a vacancy on the Utah Supreme Court. This position results from the retirement of Justice John A. Pearce.


Written comments can be submitted to the Appellate Court Nominating Commission at judicialvacancies@utah.gov or Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, P.O. Box 142330, Salt Lake City, UT 84114-2330. The deadline for written comments is noon, Sept. 13, 2025.

Yvette Donosso has been newly appointed as the Bar Commissioner representing the 2nd Division on the Utah State Bar’s Board of Bar Commissioners.

A graduate of J. Reuben Clark Law School, Yvette Donosso has dedicated 25 years to practicing family and criminal law in Utah’s state and federal courts. Her career includes clerkships with esteemed judges, service as Bountiful City Prosecutor and Utah Assistant Attorney General, and leadership as Executive Director of the Department of Community & Culture under Governor Jon Huntsman. She has practiced at several respected law firms and continues to serve her community through roles with Salt Lake Community College, the Utah State Bar, and other organizations. Recognized with honors such as the Cesar Chavez Excellence Award and the Bar’s Raymond Uno Award, Yvette is also a proud Spanish speaker who enjoys hiking, traveling, and time with her grandchildren.
