Liz Silvestrini to lead Well-Being Committee

Liz Silvestrini - Licensed Mental Health Counselor & Attorney

Welcome, Liz! We are thrilled to have her as the new consultant for the Well-being Committee for the Legal Profession.



Liz brings a unique and valuable perspective to this role. As both a licensed mental health counselor and a former attorney, she deeply understands the unique challenges and stressors faced by legal professionals. Her experience navigating a demanding career while prioritizing her own well-being, including her time spent backpacking in the Rockies after a period of significant personal change, provides invaluable insight and a commitment to self-care.


We are confident that Liz's passion for promoting lawyer-centric therapy and her dedication to helping professionals unpack the complexities of their roles will be a tremendous asset to the Well-being Committee. We extend our sincere gratitude to Martha Knudson for her past leadership and eagerly anticipate the positive contributions Liz will make in this important role.

Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission (JPEC) Executive Director Mary-Maragaret Pingree, will be joined by Christine Durham, Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice (retired)/Senior of Counsel, Wilson Sonsini, who is an attorney member of Utah Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission (JPEC), as presenters.

District Court Judge Vacancy

Applications are now being accepted for the position of district court judge of the Fourth District Court. This position results from the retirement of Judge Robert C. Lunnen, August. 1, 2025.

All applications must be submitted through the online system. The application deadline is Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Apply to Serve on Model Utah Civil Jury Instructions Standing Committee

The Utah Judicial Council is seeking applications for a lawyer who primarily represents plaintiffs to join the Model Utah Civil Jury Instructions Standing Committee.


About the Committee

The Committee develops clear and concise jury instructions that accurately reflect Utah law. The instructions use simple sentence structure and everyday words whenever possible.


The Committee consists of attorneys who represent both plaintiffs and defendants, district court judges, and a language expert. The Committee works in topic-based groups and meets monthly on the second Monday at 4:00 p.m. to discuss proposed instructions.


Committee Membership

  • Term length: 3 years, with the possibility of reappointment (up to two terms maximum)
