2023-24 Year In Review

We’re excited to announce the release of the 2023-24 Year In Review report. This report highlights the Bar’s achievements and ongoing initiatives to serve the public, our licensees, and the legal profession.


Highlights from the report include:

Access to Justice Programs: Over 3,700 virtual legal clinic cases served and 360 referrals through the Modest Means Lawyer Referral Program.

Innovative CLE Opportunities: Record attendance at our Spring Convention and Fall Forum, along with the launch of the Procrastinator Series.

Lawyer Well-Being: 3,430 virtual mental health sessions completed through Tava Health and significant steps to eliminate stigma around mental health in the profession.

Community Engagement: Successful Law Day celebrations and outreach through Wills for Heroes and Serving Our Seniors programs.

Hiring for Disciplinary Counsel


Full-time Disciplinary Counsel position with the Utah Office of Professional Conduct. Disciplinary Counsel investigates allegations of lawyer misconduct and prosecutes cases at the administrative and state court levels.


Applicants must have a law degree, be admitted to practice law in Utah, and have strong research, writing, and organizational skills. The position requires the ability to manage a large caseload. Experience with investigations and administrative rules and hearings is preferred. A background in attorney ethics and civil litigation is a plus.


Salary will be commensurate with experience. There is an excellent benefits package (including health, dental, life insurance and 401k) and the potential for a hybrid work schedule.

UNmind Access Ends


As of February 1, the Utah State Bar will no longer offer access to the UNmind app. While the decision to discontinue this service stems from limited usage, the Bar remains committed to supporting your well-being and helping you thrive in the legal profession.

Catherine Conklin Appointed to Second District

Gov. Cox has appointed Commissioner Catherine Conklin to become a Judge in the Second District, filling a vacancy created by Judge Cornish’s appointment to the Business and Chancery Court.

Ryan D. Petersen Appointed to Fourth District Juvenile Court

Gov. Cox has appointed Ryan D. Petersen to the Fourth District Juvenile Court, filling a vacancy created by Judge D. Scott Davis’s retirement.


“Ryan has shown exceptional dedication to Utah’s families and children, and I’m confident he will bring that same passion to the bench,” Gov. Cox said. “The Juvenile Court plays a vital role in shaping the future of our young people, and with Ryan’s experience and integrity, he will be an outstanding addition to the court.”
