A grand jury in Pennsylvania indicted the developers of the Mariner East 2 pipeline, which is set to carry significant amounts of natural gas from the Marcellus shale play to an export hub near Philadelphia. Most of the charges involve allegations of illegal releasing of industrial waste into water sources throughout Pennsylvania.

EAP Ohio, LLC filed for three permits to drill new wells located in Columbiana County. These three wells will be drilled in Washington Township and will target the Point Pleasant formation. This is part of, what appears to be, EAP’s intent to further develop Columbiana County.

Potentially reading the tea leaves of gas price increases, the number of active oil drilling rigs in the United States increased by five, bringing the total to 533. The net increase of five was due to an increase of nine horizontal rigs, while the number of vertical rigs declined by four.
