UBBA Workshop at Electricity Canada Meeting –

May 29 in Calgary

The Executive Director of the Utility Broadband Alliance (UBBA), Bobbi Harris, has been invited to lead an engaging and informative workshop at Electricity Canada’s OTTC Meeting on May 29th. The session is designed to share the growth success of UBBA over our first four years and empower Canadian utilities with the knowledge and tools needed to consider their opportunities in private broadband networks for critical infrastructure. This interactive UBBA session will cover key topics to support all utilities in their journey toward a secure, resilient, and modernized grid.

Workshop Highlights Will Include:

• UBBA 101: A comprehensive introduction to UBBA’s mission and the role of private LTE networks in transforming utility operations.
• Popular Use Cases: Explore real-world applications of private LTE, including Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI 2.0), Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR), edge computing, and more. Learn how these use cases enhance operational efficiency, grid reliability, and safety.
• Lessons Learned: Hear insights about UBBA members’ successes, challenges, and best practices from private LTE deployments, drawn from past UBBA Summit & Plugfest events.
• Utility Maturity Model for Private LTE: Discover UBBA’s framework for assessing and advancing your utility’s readiness for private broadband networks. This model outlines stages of adoption, helping utilities plan strategic investments and infrastructure upgrades.
• Discussion: Primers for Plugfest Readiness: Participate in a collaborative discussion on the critical steps utilities need to prepare for a UBBA Plugfest event in Canada. Topics include spectrum selection, interoperability testing, device integration, and aligning with use case requirements to ensure successful participation.
