Marina Coast Water District (MCWD) will hold an informational presentation for the Board of Directors at its September 21, 2026 Board meeting to explain how a proposed City of Marina ballot measure could affect customer bills should voters approve it in the November 3 General Election.
Measure Q is a City of Marina ballot measure; MCWD did not place it on the ballot and has no position on it. However, as the water and wastewater utility serving Marina, MCWD would be responsible for adding the 7% tax to customer water bills and sending those funds to the City if voters approve the measure. If enacted, the City of Marina Utility Users tax would appear as a separate line item on MCWD bills.
According to the City of Marina (source), “Measure Q: the City of Marina 911 Emergency, Public Safety, and Community Services Measure, asks voters to consider a 7% UUT, estimated to generate approximately $3.83 million annually for the City's General Fund.”
The public presentation at the September 21 MCWD meeting will explain how the proposed tax would be calculated and how it would affect different customers. The Public Board meeting and presentation will be held on Monday, September 21 at 6:00 PM at the Marina Coast Water District Offices at 920 2nd Avenue, Suite B, Marina.
