Remaining Sessions - VACCE 2020 Roundtable Schedule
The VACCE Board of Directors is pleased to announce our Roundtable schedule for the rest of 2020. The goal of these virtual Roundtables is to have lively discussion so we can learn from each other!

Session 2 – Events / Sponsorship
Date – Wednesday, October 7 – 10:00 – 11:00am
Topics for Discussion: Virtual Events (topics, speakers, platforms used, etc.), what hybrid (virtual and in-person) events are you doing, planning for In-Person Events for 2021, and any changes to sponsorships in 2020 or expected in 2021 (price and benefits)

Session 3 – Communications
Date – Wednesday, November 4 – 10:00 – 11:00am
Topics for Discussion: Social Media (what platforms, frequency of posts, types of posts, etc.), Member Communications – pre and during covid (e-newsletters, etc.), Mailed Communications, and using your board, ambassadors, etc.

MFG Day 2020

Preparations for MFG Day 2020 are underway, kicking off on October 2 and then continuing throughout the month. Launched annually on the first Friday in October, MFG Day helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders. MFG Day is an initiative of the Manufacturing Institute, the workforce development and education partner of the National Association of Manufacturers. The NAM has released their "Building to Win" infrastructure strategy for candidates and elected officials. Families, communities, and manufacturers need modern transportation, energy, broadband, and water infrastructure to meet the demands of today's economy. VACCE Member Updates
Bedford Area Chamber
We are hosting our Annual Business Expo on October 1 at the local Fire Department outdoors with over 30 businesses. We host our Government Affairs Meeting as a hybrid meeting bi-monthly. We host our Board Meetings, and in the months prior to October, they have been by zoom conference and now moving to hybrid the rest of the year. Our Lead Networking Groups are held twice a month, and they are meeting virtually and in person for hybrid meetings. Town Hall Candidate Forum is meeting in person with social distancing and a small reserved crowd also virtually on YouTube. Marketing Committees are meeting virtually along with Ambassador Meetings monthly have been meeting virtually and after October 1 will meet in person. Christmas Market will be November 19 from 1-6 pm will be our first indoor event since February.
Chamber RVA
Maribeth Conrad has recently joined the Chamber as their new Director, Marketing & Communications.
Charlottesville Regional Chamber
The Chamber has launched Cville Chamber Rising Professionals, a business networking group focused on people under 40.
Chesterfield Chamber
The Chamber is pleased to welcome Casey Harman as their new Business Development Manager.

The Chamber will be hosting their Back to Business Expo on October 16.
Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber
Effective September 1, the Chamber has moved its offices to the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR), a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. IALR facilitates and leads economic transformation across Southern Virginia through advanced learning, applied research, advanced manufacturing, conference services and economic development.

This fall, the Chamber will host a series of virtual events, including a City Council Candidate Forum, Annual Awards Event, Economic Summit and Workforce Summit. These events will be hosted on Zoom. The candidate forum also will be streamed live on the City of Danville’s River City TV Facebook page.

The Chamber’s only face-to-face event will be the 30th Annual Laurie S. Moran Chamber Classic. The event will be altered to maintain social distancing while allowing players to enjoy a great day of golf and fun!

In partnership with the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia and the Tom Tom Foundation, the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce announced a new leadership development experience, NextGen: Southern Virginia, a virtual learning and networking opportunity for emerging leaders from the Dan River Region.
Dulles Regional Chamber
Zena Elhilou has joined the Chamber as Manager.
Goochland Chamber
The Chamber is hosting a Lunch and Learn Business Webinar on October 8 on the topic of "Emergency Temporary Standards." Attorney Tricia Dunlap will be the presenter, and she will discuss the latest employment laws in effect regarding COVID-19 that went into effect on the 1st of September. Greater Reston Chamber
The Chamber is hosting the Reston Pumpkin 5K and Movement Challenge. This virtual 5k/1 miler run/walk can be a part of your My Moving Minutes challenge or a stand-alone 5k/1 mile run/walk. Choose from your favorite moving activities to complete 500, 700, or 1,000 moving minutes in 30 days.

The 2020 Reston Chamber Cup will be held October 15 at the 1757 Golf Club. New this year for novice golfers will be a Golf Lesson: Tips and Etiquette Review before the tournament.

Highland County Chamber
Highland County has teamed up with online event platform BoothCentral to introduce the first ever Virtual Hands & Harvest Festival. Celebrate the beauty and bounty of fall with this hybrid event of both virtual and in-person offerings from October 8 - 11.

To further “tap” into what Highland County is most known for, we are happy to introduce the Virginia Maple Syrup Trail! This passport program offers visitors the chance to visit eight sugar camps in Highland County throughout the year, excluding the busy Maple Festival weeks and weekends, to experience each unique camp.

What are those painted wooden quilt blocks adorned on barns and houses in Highland County? They are barn quilts! Beginning in 2011, Highland County was the first county in Virginia to have its very own Barn Quilt Trail.  A brand new Highland County Barn Quilt Trail Brochure is now available, completely revised and expanded with over 50 barn quilts to explore.

Louisa County Chamber
The Chamber will host the 2nd Annual Non-Profit Summit on October 16. Staff and volunteer leaders for any nonprofit organization/agency throughout the Central Virginia area are invited to attend. For more information, click here.

Orange County Chamber
Deanne Marshall has been named the new Executive Director for the Chamber.

The Chamber has a ribbon cutting at a local brewery and there are a couple of businesses that are having October Fest celebrations. They have implemented the Governor's COVID restrictions in their advertising. Needless to say, we are excited to see some activity in our business community.
