Vallejo, CA - On July 16, 2024, at approximately 12:36 PM, the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) Patrol Division responded to an injury collision with reports of gunshots heard near the intersection of Tennessee Street and Vervais Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers observed a three-vehicle collision at the listed intersection involving a Mercedes-Benz ML350, an Isuzu Trooper, and a Kia Soul.
Officers also observed an adult female lying in the street, suffering from injuries consistent with being involved in the collision. Officers immediately rendered medical aid to the female until medical personnel arrived, and she was transported to a local hospital.
The Vallejo Police Department's Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The investigation identified Jacoby Etter, a 46-year-old Rancho Cordova resident, as the suspect in this homicide.
On August 7, 2024, VPD Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jacoby Etter.
On August 8, 2024, VPD, in collaboration with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Detail (SED), conducted a successful operation on the 4300 block of Malana Way in Rancho Cordova, California. As a result of the operation, Etter was apprehended without incident.
Following his arrest, Etter was subsequently booked into the Solano County Jail for murder.
