Vallejo, CA - On October 16, 2025, at approximately 11:06 a.m., the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) Patrol Division responded to a call for service regarding a shooting on the 100 block of Forest Ridge Drive. An adult female victim reported that she was shot and was en route to a local hospital.
VPD Patrol officers responded to the hospital and contacted the female victim. The officers confirmed the female victim was suffering from at least one life-threatening gunshot wound, and she was later listed in critical condition.
The Vallejo Police Department's Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Team responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Through their investigation, they identified the suspect as DeShawn Michael Cochise Pollard, a 34-year-old male from Stockton, California.
Based on the evidence gathered, the POP Team obtained an arrest warrant for Pollard. Investigators learned he was possibly in the Sacramento area and alerted the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office of the warrant and his location.
On October 18 at approximately 8:25 p.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office observed Pollard traveling on the 4500 block of Ledonne Drive in Sacramento County. When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, he failed to yield, and a brief pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended when Pollard's vehicle collided with an occupied vehicle. Pollard fled on foot but was quickly apprehended near Florin Road and 55th Street. The occupant of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Subsequently, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office transferred Pollard's custody to the Vallejo Police Department. DeShawn Michael Cochise Pollard was booked into the Solano County Jail on multiple felony charges, which include attempted murder and felon in possession of a firearm.
