Vallejo, CA - On September 6, 2024, at approximately 12:27 AM, the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) Patrol Division responded to an injury collision with reports of gunshots heard near the intersection of Tennessee Street and Mare Island Way.
Upon arrival, officers observed a single-vehicle collision involving a 2005 white Honda Accord near the listed intersection.
Officers also observed the driver, who was an adult female and the sole occupant of the vehicle, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Due to the extensive damage the vehicle sustained from the collision, personnel from the Vallejo Fire Department conducted an emergency extrication of the victim. Despite these life-saving efforts, the female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Vallejo Police Department Detective Division took over the investigation and identified Omar David Molina Mendoza, a 27-year-old resident of Vallejo, as the suspect responsible for this homicide. The Solano County District Attorney's Office charged Omar David Molina Mendoza with murder. Omar David Molina Mendoza was already in custody at the Solano County Jail on unrelated charges, which occurred after the date of the homicide.
