VICTIM ASSISTANCE PROGRAM ACHIEVES NATIONAL ACCREDITATION

Dear Friends,

Exciting news! After undergoing a rigorous and lengthy process, we are pleased to announce that our agency has achieved accreditation through the Council on Accreditation (COA), an independent organization, separate from the government, that ensures all of our programs and services are being delivered at the highest possible standards.

Achieving accreditation was not easy and we've spent over a year working toward this goal. During that time, COA reviewed all aspects of our program’s services, administration, and management. We are hopeful that COA accreditation, in addition to our long history of expertise in the field of victim advocacy, will provide you with the confidence that our services are among the best in the nation. As this new chapter of our agency begins, we want to acknowledge all of those who have supported, and continue to support our agency in all of our endeavors. Your continued generosity allows us to better serve our mission. We are truly excited about this milestone and hope you are, too.

Although the formal accreditation process has been achieved, this is not the finish line! This is a continuing process that our agency has undertaken to elevate our services and to keep ourselves accountable. We will continue to achieve new levels of excellence and deliver services of the highest quality, but we need to ask for your help. Attend SVAA's Essentials of Victim Advocacy, our nationally approved prerequisite training to become a comprehensive Credentialed Victim Advocate. Complete this 40-hour hybrid course and use the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) model of crisis intervention to aid individuals impacted by victimizations and traumatic events.

Mardi Gras Gala

For the last 25+ years proceeds from our Mardi Gras Gala have directly impacted victims of crime and trauma in Summit County. The strong support of generous donors like you allow our advocates to provide 24-hour crime scene response, crisis intervention, and advocacy to over 6,300 victims a year.

On Saturday, March 7, 2020 over 400 guests will once again turn The Tangier in Akron into a night out on Bourbon Street. Guests will enjoy a gourmet meal, an open bar, live & silent auctions while helping us reach our fundraising goal of $130,000!
